Hi gang. Here are a number of HQ's in Imperial Fist colours. I didn't always thin my paints as much as I needed and my brush control isn't the best but I am happy with how they turner out. Especially as this is the first time in twenty years I've actually painted anything. At least I made the effort right.

The Chaplain with Jump Pack was the BA model originally, I did some minor modifications and now it is serving the IF well. Below is my kitbashed Firstborn Captain with Jump Pack.

Yellow is traditionally a pain to paint (it generally doesn't have great coverage), and they look pretty neat, so you're off to a good start. Painted models always look better than bare plastic, and there's only one way you can develop brush control and an instinct for correct thinning - by painting more minis.   (also, using magnification aids can help with brush control, especially once you reach "a certain age")

As @Sergeant Centurion says, it's your hobby - if you're happy, that's all that matters.

I love how your heart is in the right place. Also, the collection you have contains some cool late-stage Firstborn models. The yellows appear a bit rough but yellow is an extremely hard colour to paint. You could consider slapping some washes on your models - this should make the details more defined. I think that a good wash goes a long way and is capable of doing some heavy lifting. I use washes to cheat and to hide my lack of proper skills all the time! (Although, I wouldn't know what wash to use for yellows not to make them too messy; however, I'm sure other more experienced and skilled members could offer some advice).

Good luck in your future endeavours.
