I just received a couple of mats from Table War. I pulled one out and wasn't impressed with the coloring. It was very dark, almost washed out. I recall others I've seen at gaming stores being more vibrant. I haven't pulled out the other map to compare yet, but was just surprised at how dark it was. I tried to get decent pictures, but my phone is too good (it actually allows in more light and brightens photos. A blessing and a curse).

You can kind of get a sense for how washed out it is though. Has anyone else had a similar experience or is this a potentially bad run?

I feel like it looks good in the photos - yes it’s not “vibrant”, it’s subdued, it’s letting the models be the centre of attention - what I’m saying is it might be deliberate rather than a bad run? Things you buy online often look more vibrant because they are displayed on a screen literally firing light into your eyes. I have been caught that way with RPG maps. I feel your pain.

I'm sure you've already thought about this, but it might be worth finding some reviews with high-resolution photos (or YouTube videos with close-ups)?

From the reviews I've seen, printed mats seem to be slightly desaturated (it could be the way the ink and material interact?), and not 100% sharp when viewed close-up (I think this is a combination of material weave and also needing a giant file - the conventional yardstick of "300dpi" works out about 21k x 14k pixels for a 6'x4'), e.g. this Deepcut one (click on the image to enlarge and look just below the blue plane), or this one
