Welcome to part three of the Blood Angels Unit of the Week series!

Following the release of the 10th edition Index, there is no better time to discuss all the units we have access to. Each week a different unit will appear, with the idea being that we discuss how best to use that model on the battlefield. Where part one will discuss the units from the units found within Index: Blood Angels, parts two to four will discuss Index: Space Marines, part five will be Imperial Armour, and part six will be Legends.

Note, this isn't to lament any nerfs, etc, from previous editions; the rules are as they are so try to unlock its potential for those who wish to use them all the same. Similarly, this thread is only for using the option being discussed; it matters not if you feel something is a better choice as such comments aren't constructive to the topic and shall be removed.

Without further ado, here's this week's entry:

What are you thoughts here folks? How best would you play a Centurion Assault Squad?

  • To compliment a list, or to build a list around?
  • Which Detachment are you using?
  • What delivery options are you using?
  • What deployment options are you using?
  • What weapon choice are you using?
  • Stratagem synergy of note?

Over to you.

Please note that Devastator Centurions shall be discussed elsewhere.

Should you want your model on display here (or on another thread), then submit a photo here please.

(Once I work out how best to float it!)

As an aside, the thread setup may change over the coming weeks until I'm happy with them. This includes the photos.

Yeah, I asked for this unit because the amount of damage 3x can make to a vehicle or monster is insane in CC for 150 pts.

However, how to deliver?

A Land Raider, StormRaven, Teleportation?

With teleportation and 4" movement chances are the vehicles will just move away from them D:

With a LandRaider sounds quite attractive with assault ramp but I feel they will need either good supporting units or good use of "aggressive onslaught" to keep them in game.

I just like centurions, funny I find them cool.

Have you tried something similar or other options?

Got no experience with these guys, but 3 of them jumping out of a land raider in the SoS detachment seems like it could lay the smack-down on a lot of large things.

Mathematically, they should put 18 wounds on a land raider without even popping OoM!

I like the models, I bought and built 3 of them before Blood Angels even had access to them.  I'd only run them in a Land Raider for the Assault ramp on it.  Whatever else you use to move them results in a 9" charge which is too unreliable and more than likely they will be blasted off the board next turn as they wobble around chasing something  in their fat-marine suits.  They can't be joined by anything but they don't need anything they are lethal in melee but suffer from lack of mobility.  I guess if you wanted a rock solid home objective holder they'd do but there's better choices for that.
