speculation of reasons why he left aside, the initial reason I went to the painting phase was mainly due to peachy being there, now I don’t really have a reason to go back as the guys were nice but(no offence ) not interesting enough to hold me… unsub inbound…

it’s like your fav member of a boy band has gone solo… and the band has lost its magic…

Echoing many other comments, I started following The Painting Phase when Peachy joined, and I can't help but wonder how many of the fantastically successful interviews they've done were down to him and his connections. I don't envy Patrick and Geoff in this situation!

Will be interesting to see Peachy's new ventures.

I mean, it seems a problem of their own making - don't kill the golden goose, or at least try to keep it happy!

To be perfectly honest, Pat and Geoff don't come across as the most informed (nor caring) wargamers at times. They made some borderline bizarre statements about the Heresy and Old World communities that came across as more than a little bit spiteful.

Peachy was certainly the main draw for many if not all subscribers over the last year or so, and how he handled the interviews with people from across the industry was fantastic. Pat and Geoff just don't seem to have the same level of tact for it, and in general seem far more invested in acting as an advert channel for the likes of Artis Opus and so forth.

The thing is, we don't know what happened, and that's going to make it harder to unpick what we feel about this. Unless someone talks to all three men, we won't get a better picture, and even then, we still won't really know.

Instead, ultimately, it's lots of personality based criticisms here and elsewhere, responding to a single post, which isnt the best to see. Even some rather desultory fan-esque, "sides taken", approaches.

This is a nice encouragement from G&P today too!

Overall, while sad in some ways, happy to see where they each go. Peachy has been great since the days of twitch, when it was lovely to watch him, Wade and whoever else just chat away (including being filmed by Pat, of course!). And I've really enjoyed G&P, who are nice guys. Will be intriguing to see what happens next for them each :)

Yeah, I saw that sort of thing a few times - really odd for people who's income is dependant on these communities?

It's too bad they couldn't make it work. Now Peachy has to get good at all the media production side of the house and the TPP need to get smart about the uniqueness of their content. Both tall orders in an increasingly crowded space.

The Painting Phase was interesting in that it captured some of the casual banter from the Lockdown era of Warhammer Community with an informed perspective in the form of Peachy.

Now, Peachy is essentially competing as a painting expert against a bunch of people who already have well-developed approaches and award-winning resumes, years removed from the time he was one of the main GW personalities. He likes to position himself as an "army painter" and I hope he can carve out a niche as the guy who helps you get a lot of gray plastic painted, fast.

The TPP guys are solid videographers, but can they compete with Valrak's mania, Auspex Tactics freakish level of attentiveness,  or Poorhammer's programming skill in the general "Talk about 40K news" corner of the content world? I don't see the point of differentiation, personally.

Good luck to all involved!

Forgot a line.

^^ Smart social media people and video production are easier to find and bring into the business than Ex GW employees, though, I think. Also, a lot of peachy's content was him bantering with friends and talking about stuff like GW business practice. There's more there than just painting, and we know that the painting sub channel industry is already quite bloated.

Duncan does well because the most popular painting channels are all incredibly talented painters who have vast knowledge to call upon to paint incredibly detailed models. Duncan teaches painting achievable for that majority of painting. Richard Gray et al do not. If you need an airbrush to paint something you’re already on the narrowest end of the hobby funnel. Peachy most certainly can carve out a niche as a YouTuber that does army painting. The other army painters on YouTube are all on that narrow end.
