I never got mad and threw one in the trash until today.  Illuminor Szeras got me.  Threw a $60 model in the trash.  I’m done.

Bad part is I was taking a break from another project.  That was the last Necron model I had that wasn’t assembled and painted.  I guess my Necrons are 100% done now.

I can't lie, I had zero trouble with mine. Probably just caught you on a bad day lol. But least you're technically finished now haha.

Definitely keep the broken model though. Can never have too many bits for the bits box!

Honestly, I’ve had more issues with forge world resin and Chinese junk but I was prepared for that.  I didn’t expect issues with a GW plastic kit and lost patience.

Don't build new Flayed Ones. I found them miserable, much worse than Szeras. I think I broke my Szeras but in a way I was able to work with (just removed some doodad or something where the break was).

Ugh, couldn't stand the Flayed Ones, which is probably why I only have one 5-man squad. I will probably order some recast of the older finecast ones if I want more. Haven't done the Illuminor yet, but heard he was pretty bad as well.

The Flayed Ones are the only kit I've built that I would not build again. If I need more Flayed Ones I will either convert/print them or buy second-hand or something. I really struggled to finish one 10 man squad.

I can fix mine.  I dug it out of the trash and put it in a box.  Probably to remain there for a few years.  My Necrons have been done for a long time.  I just picked him up for the heck of it.  I just wanted a short break from my CSMs I’ve been working on for months.  Bad choice on my part.

Thanks for sharing that.  I found Necrons to be the easiest army to put together and make look good of anything I’ve worked on.  That’s why I expected him to be a breeze.  Glad you told me because they’re about the only infantry models I don’t have and probably would have picked some up eventually.

I get it, when the new szeres came out, I slapped it together kinda sloppily and I remember it being a pain then. The blood affect was bent and hanging on by a thread. Then I realized I built it wrong and it would be too much effort to paint the way I want it. So into storage he went. Likely to be sold. Bought another one about a month ago and tackled it very slowly and methodically in terms of pre-planning for the purposes of painting. Carefully chosen decisions on sub assemblies to make life easier. I ended up getting creative by carefully chopping his front "foot" away, off of the human as well as the laser affect at the end of his staff, so I could paint the human and blood affect separately. It took me a long time, but I got him done. And all I could think was.......good freaking luck to the average hobbyist.

Wow I forgot how difficult and frustrating he was. I'm sorry to hear that. The funny thing is I just bought one (I sold the old one a few years ago as part of a painted army.)

This is a good warning. I've been really disliking some of the new model assemblies. Lately they seem to twist and contort weird body assemblies together that that make me miss the old days of posable models even more.

Anyway your warning makes me realize I will have to be in a very good frame of mind and prepare to be very patient before tackling this model again.
