That way different folks have options, which is usually a good thing in my book. 40k has worryingly swerved into simplifying which is a bad idea imo. Personally for 40k I want more in depth, thematic rules. The problem with past 40k was that it wasn't particularly efficient. That is why I really didn't like the approach to 10th of "simplified not simplistic". It should have been "efficient not dumbed down".
