I am currently painting ten Iron empire models from Raging Heroes as a palate cleanser from working on Iron Hands (tall % small) nonstop. In the background runs Mortal Kombat 11 and my AI toons farm in-game resources for the Meteor Tower. This franchise has an underworld (Netherrealm) and their type of undead have grey skin, glowing red eyes and glowing, red scars over their body. They look quite impressive imo. As the Iron Empire military is  also largely composed of undead I was wondering, if a change to my approach would be feasible (fair skin and glowing green eyes).  So far only three models faces have been painted so that change wouldn´t be too much of a work.

So how often do you question a painting scheme while you are still at it?

I've had it a few times with the nids I am painting at the moment when I see some quite impressive other schemes... then I think - I am actually painting models again semi regularly so stick with what I am doing. I might concede and tweak the weapons a bit from black carapace to red at some point though.

Scheme paralysis has hit me for other things though - I've not even started my Imperial knights because of it and, after probably 2 decades in the loft/storage, I am considering selling my 30ish metal daemonettes/ 5 seekers as I could never get the skin tone right.

I've got a similar issue currently with my Tau, their armor is Caliban green, Nuln oil recess shade, Warpstone glow highlight. Been thinking for a while I should've gone for a different green entirely because they're pretty damn dark. Like Deathworld forest or something.

Problem is I've got a Commander, Broadside, Riptide, Fire Warrior squad, 2x Pathfinder squads and a bunch of drones all painted up this way. Sunk cost fallacy very much says I have to keep going with Caliban green
