Well the game has been played, notes written and photos taken, but I am not sure I will get the full report done in the next 24 hrs.  My health hasn't been that great this past week and I've not made the desired progress.  

 

Hopefully I'll get it up in the next day or so.  Don't know if I can get an extension that long or not.  All good if not.  Life happens.

But without staying up till the morning it aint happening.  I'll still get the report done, hopefully by this time tomorrow.  I know that means I wont get Gold on all like I hoped but... thats procrastination and bad health for you.  As it was I only got the battle in on the last day of the challenge, and it was against my self.  Still I hope you guys enjoy it when I finish getting the report up.  And I've already got one models sorted for the next challenge I think.  Or I might try for three new ones.  Will see how I go for time.

OK, I'll officially declare Challenge 3 closed! Don't be too downhearted, gents. This one was always one of the harder ones to make happen. Well done to @Rusted Boltgun!

 

Edit: @Brother Argent I would have thought you've done enough already for a Silver on Challenge 3, or at least a Bronze?

 

Anyway, we'll move on to the Penultimate Challenge:

* Bronze: Create a dataslate (converted and painted model, fluff, custom rules and stats) representing a notable character from your organization;

* Silver: Create two dataslates representing two notable characters from your organization;

* Gold: Create three dataslates representing three notable characters from your organization.

I am not sure as I didn't really have a report up, just the pictures from it.  I'll leave it up to you.  Either way its now done and finished.  Annoyingly enough after I logged out and shut everything down yesterday I realised that it was an hour earlier then I thought and I likely could have finished it on time.

Well I just realized the last challenge was just a one month challenge, I hadn't looked at the dates, which is... frustrating. The game I did have scheduled had fell through after my necron buddy got rear ended and hurt his back. Ironically I was planning on doing a solo game if the game didn't happen by next week. I might still try and knock something together for a sense of completion, but right now I'll focus instead of finishing this next challenge.

Im going to attempt to complete this challenge next weekend, but I dont want to pledge before I figure out how to do a datacard. Working in a image editor is a bit daunting to a simple Kroot enjoyer, and I cant eat myself through it

With you there @sitnam. I'm not helped by my laptop having a display driver issue. My datacards may be heavily forum text-based!

100% correct!

 

While there are blank datasheet files that you can add your text to, these are very much a cherry-on-top kind of thing! As long as the info is clear and legible, you are good

I made up a blank datasheet if that helps. Font wise I used Swis721, but Helvetica works too. I used a commercial app to make these, but I can recommend Inkscape and GIMP as free alternatives.

Thanks @NovemberIX, I located the blank one noted above (I'd downloaded it when we did the first challenge) and I've got half way through so I'll stick with it. Fixed my laptop too (fingers crossed) so have a chance I might make the deadline - if I get cracking on the minis!

Looking good you guys.  I'm struggling big time with both this and the Call to Arms.  Hobby Mojo seems to have slumped again.  That and I cant find the required bits.  But will hopefully get some progress today and then into the next week.  As it stands for the Call alone I need to paint a Triarch Stalker, Screamer Killer, Psycophage, 10 Gaunts, a Warlock and an Autarch. All in 9 days.  Plus the three guys for this challenge....

Well at this point I'm not going to get it done.  I've had to commit all my time to the Call to Arms to get it done on time (going to be a push there too).  I will finish the challenge, just not in the time frame. Likely get something sorted in the next week.  Hopefully the rest of you are having better luck.

Challenge V

 

From the very beginning, I started jotting ideas down for this challenge as I wrote the earlier index entry. I'm hoping I don't conflict what I have already written in there with this 'origin story' of the Fists of Light. I ought to proof it . Maybe I'll have the courage to do so before the deadline.

 

As I've not at the start of the post, I've not attempted to write any fiction since I was at school (and I turn a year closer to 50 next week) so apologies in advance for the quality...... but it meets the word count for Silver!

I've got an outline of a story, more, a rough image in my head since the start of this challenge. I hope I can somehow shake it out by the end of this, and if I can, I'd really like to try and actually catch-up and get a game in for completions sake. I've honestly had so much fun working on this stuff, I got more done in one year that I have in the past 3.

I've ghosted this challenge- I failed Part 2, and never recovered my equilibrium. I've been bummed out about and and haven't visited or checked in (I don't deal well with failure lol). But you guys have really knocked it out of the park! I haven't read in-depth, but the photos and datacards are top-notch!

 

I almost finished my Novitiates, but I made some Narrative mistakes in the building phase- all except standard bearers and special weapons should have been standard kit. The banners play a role in the ceremony, and the specials set the tone for Jahalla's promotion to Dominion. But when I put it together, I built a Penitent and Proto-Mistress (I forget the correct term). I did it because I wasn't sure I could justify another box, and I would want these models for future narrative purposes.

 

Well, today I bought the second box, and now that I've failed the challenge anyway, I think I'll swap the two specialists for standard Novitiates so that I can play it out as I should.

 

I know that I'm not going to hit deadlines from here on in... But I am proud of the Lore the challenge inspired, and I do plan to finish eventually. Anyway, the embarrassing part is over. I want to read all the posts and catch up, and I have some personal time coming and might use a bunch to paint.
