So, I have gound to a halt when it comes to gaming recently. after playing way too much halo infinite multiplayer (and wishing there was a 40k version) I'm now on the prowl like a nefarious lictor, looking for more games to play. ideally it would be first person and not cost as much a small battle barge.

tldrl;

are there any good first person Warhammer games out there that aren't too expensive?

Darktide. Hands down the best 40K game.  Graphics are amazing, the weapons feel spot on and the gameplay loop is incredibly satisfying. Not much in the way of story and it’s co-op multiplayer only, but if you don’t mind that then it’s awesome.

Cost wise I would recommend getting it from CD Keys. I’ve used them loads of times and they’re really good. The Imperial Edition is £18.99 right now:

That gives you some cosmetics and premium currency to start with (no P2W, only paid stuff is cosmetic) and access to the soundtrack, which is amazing to paint to.

is it local co-op?

Online in teams of four. You can run a private match but you need at least two of you, then the other spaces can be filled with bots, or you can invite specific players. I mainly just run PUGs. It’s all online.

Yeah even the "remaster" Deathwing is still a bummer, but it does have a certain feel to it that I don't hate.  Just mildly disappointed.

Darktide is pretty good, and I think it just came out on Xbox not too long ago.

I played alot of the ancient games, like Final Liberation, and had alot of fun then.. But.. it is not old, it is ancient, and buggy.. ;)

had fun with Chaos gate but it was, not so user friendly and doubt it is playable these days - BUT, worth mentioning for the cool music!

I bought that Space hulk Deathwing too, played it once.. Mainly as I forgot it and then heard it was bad.. But it looked real good so I will go back.. Same with Mordheim.. Heard it is good though. I mean, I forgot I had it, not that it was bad.. But not the 40k universe (or is it? ;) )

And then I have had alot of fun with Blood Bowl 2. But there is Blood Bowl 3.. Which is supposed to be more buggy and lack content.. But BB2 is cheap iirc..

For more non 40k-universe (well..). I had some fun hours with Warhamemr Quest too..

And i wish that GorkaMorka game was released.. or better yet, a modern version was doen! :D

Darktide, but I recommend playing vet last because once you use him with the lasguns, you won't want to touch the other characters. I have over 100+ hrs with only lasguns vet.

I play vet exclusively with the bolter. It feels exactly how it should feel. Handles heavily but makes enemies explode in a most satisfying fashion. And the full auto just deletes rooms full of stuff.

I also play zealot and it just doesn’t die with the right combo of traits. Very tough class that can dominate hordes in close combat and still snipe specialists at range. Also has great support skills. For some reason I can play much harder content with this guy than with the vet.

I haven’t got on well with the psyker but I’ve seen people play that class insanely well and clutch entire games solo. Not tried the ogryn but it looks fun.

Boltgun on X box series x is great fun if you just want a blast for a few hours at a time.  I pick it up now and then just to spend 30 mins or so reminiscing about the old days of gaming.

I also have the original space marine on my steam deck and although it's old, it's a cracking game to play in my opinion.
