yeah those prices and the terrible design imo, you can get much better ones for far cheaper already

They'd be better if they stacked or clipped together like lego like their logo implies.

Whilst it's great to have alternatives, the Wicked Bricks cases look so much better then these in my opinion. In both quality and aesthetics.

Comparing the one you've linked with the 'small squad' wicked bricks one, its a £10 difference but you'd get double the depth, gain 26mm in height however lose 45mm in width...

That is for the clear option, a few extra £ gets you the background picture if you wanted.

The plaques seem like a good option, they're listed as coming soon with a price of £0.00, I doubt they'd be free but if they are, added bonus!

This is just one example. You can find plenty of alternatives out there - the "clear plastic box" market is wide and varied.

I think about these cases the same way I think about buying a high quality airbrush, in that, yes it’s a considered purchase, and yes it wouldn’t be the first thing you would pick up on entering the hobby, but it will probably lead to a better hobby experience than the 3rd or 4th limited release army box that will sit in the loft unloved. Anyone who has been in the hobby for a stretch of time likely has enough models to last a lifetime and things like these cases encourages engagement in the hobby (and yes, spending) that doesn’t involve adding to the pile.

Speaking for myself, the longer I've been in the hobby the less I've wanted 'more' and the more I've wanted 'better'. I would be far happier with 1000pts of snazzily painted Orks than 10,000pts of so-so painted Marines, and if I've spent the last year and a half painting a single Combat Patrol, I'm happy splashing out on a nice case so that I can actually see them from time to time.

To be honest, my experience with Wicked Brick's Kallax inserts was awful. Flimsy, easily damaged materials, sections that don't fit together properly and magnets that simply aren't strong enough to hold things in place. A mutual friend has one of the display cases for one of the more recent LEGO Star Destroyers as well, and she's echoed similar complaints.

Interesting, I've not bought that product from them, but have experience with one of their item specific display cases, which was the opposite - very well made, sturdy materials, and the completed case looked great. Presumably there's a bit of variation depending which product you buy

I've taken a punt on two squad cases (small and medium) so will report back how I find them

Don't see much use in single or squad/detachment minis to be display like this, at these prices.

For the price of three "5 space marine squad" cases I can buy an Ikea showcase furniture, which contains surely over 150 space marine.

They will be useful for someone who owns a very small miniature collection(maybe a only killteam/necromunda player but I don't know), but it's still seems pretty absurd noneless.

why are there so many open spaces in the casing? and looking head on onto screwheads? looks ridiculous cheap but i guess people fall once more for fancy marketingtalk to splurge their money on stuff they didnt need nor truly wanted

If these came with metal bases and could therefore also be used as transport cases once bases were magnetized, I might have considered getting one or two, but judging by the description given, that doesn’t sound like it, so I don’t see much appeal.

Might look good to display a squad or two as a backdrop on the bookshelf behind me when I’m on Teams, but otherwise a hard pass for me…
