Thanks, @The Pounder, @Brother Christopher and @space wolf!

And Brother Christopher, the power fist is my favorite as well - not only do I think it works the best of the 3 for the "elbow pulled back" pose of the original model, but the colours work very nicely as well.  Its actually a fist I had already painted - I stole it from a noise marine champion I had done, who is no longer legal, unfortunately - I just redid the casing dark purple to match this army rather than the genestealer-ish purple it had originally.  That said, he'll probably get fielded pretty much exclusively as with the whip for this edition, as that seems the best option in 10th.

Space wolf, thanks for commenting on the eyes - I particulary happy with them on this model, as I managed to get tiny white highlights on them which I don't normally do but I think are very effective on this guy.

So, next painting project is my first squad of Tormentors.

So, I've had the idea of doing them in camo cloaks for a while, to represent their infiltrators special rule.  I've also been settled on doing it the same colours as the old-school Tau scheme (the one the first GW Tau army was in).   So, I introduce to you the most fabulous camo pattern in the 41st millenium - Slann Pat:

I still want to do unit designation, so I put a big slannesh symbol over top in a 3rd. colour. I then gave it a brown wash for some shading - which was a mistake.  I'll have to see about undoing that.

All in all, I'm pretty happy about it (once I fix the brown wash).  My second squad will be the same idea, but with the red-brown splotches and the symbol colour swapped.

Thanks, @The Pounder.

Its too "muddy" - makes it realistic looking and dirty, but that's kind of at odds with the more stylistic look I had intended.  Its worst on the large tan symbol, where I'm also having some trouble with paint consistency.   I guess the unshaded version looks more like I want it to look like, so I'm wanting to return it to that.

Managed to clean up the "washed" cape without too much difficulty, and washed the others before doing the camo, with going pack to paint the orange-brown of the main cape to essentially just leave the holes and folds shadowed.  Happy with how it turned out.  Incidentally, the one I had to clean up the wash on is the 2nd from the right.

Anyway, finished the cape portion (well, except the fur) of my first squad.

Thanks, @W.A.Rorie and @Vairocanum - I'm glad you like them.  I must admit I'm pleasantly surprised at how well slannesh symbols can be made into camoflage.

Got tired of my friend's necrons kicking my teeth in when playing... well, pretty much anything (though recently its been my CSM and Emperor's Children) so decided to throw my knights at him, as that's the only army I've ever fielded against him (in 1 game in 9th) where he's struggled.

And while I was at it, I thought I would make improve my current force's firepower some, by converting me some despoiler gatling cannons.  This first one was my proof of concept - its basically just a new shield and gun attached to the backend of the rapid fire battlecannon.  Here are two photos of it alongside the GW one.

And equiped by one of my knights.

Its made of some GW bits (the gun is the forgefiend hades autocannon with the back cut off, the shield is from the AoS Chaos Warriors kit, the flamer and tank are from the 2nd ed.  vehicle accessory sprue, and the chaos star is from the chaos vehicle accessory sprue), plasticard and a bit of greenstuff.  The last is something new for me - I used a greenstuff mold to create the bulge behind the gun, as the plumbing part I got it from was too much effort to saw through to get the one part of it I wanted.

Last picture is the conversion without any of my pre-existing knight bits. which the various plumbing supplies I bought trying to figure out the best way to do the armoured bulge between the barrels and the shield.

The one on the far right is the one I went with, with the greenstuff mold of it just below the gun.  To the left are other parts I considered (I was guessing as to the proper size, so I bought a bunch of options to try out which one worked best), and the top bits are the parts that came with the other ones that I was considering using.

Anyway, my proof of concept worked, so I'll be building 3 more of them.  They will all be basically the same except 2 of them will have the gas tanks on the other side, and the top shields will all be a bit different, as the shields in the warrior's kit are all slightly different.  Oh, and hopefully the top shields will be straight on those unlike on this one where its a bit off centre.

Huh, I can't believe I've never complimented your Slaaneshi-pattern camo capes. That's an unbelievable oversight. It was a creative idea that was excelently executed. The choice of colours and 'density' of the symbols painted on the capes makes them quite striking: clearly aesthetically-driven (fitting for the followers of Slaanesh), but at the same time the earthy tones give a very grounded, utilitarian feel.

The converted, chaosified Gatling gun I also pretty dope. I like the attention to details: the use of some oldschool flamer (together with the fuel tanks mounted on the side), the plasticard shield and extensions and the top-cover with the chaos symbol. I'm slightly concerned with the green stuff bit: it might just be the photo, but it looks a bit rough/uneven. If that's the case, it should be fairly easy to to fix with some filing or adding more GS.
