Brother Nathan
So im in search of dice, well more specifically after the scale of the dice from the Spacehulk board game (which if anyone knows please tell me) and ive not seen a topic on them in here since i last saw the thread about the Bolter and Chainsword dice (which i need when they come up again) but in between those things im just wondering, we all share our models and such bu not our true daily hobby playing tools! whats your dice. do you have different ones for different army's too? have you gone all out on gw ones or other special customs etc? How do you feel about size/scale/weight? Wolf Lord Duregar
Just use 20 blue 12mm (?) GW dice. I used to have green but left them somewhere.. I like those small dice but I would prefer actual 1s instead of the skulls.. Or the classic white ones. Those are perfect in size - I usually don´t like bigger but the Blood Bowl dice has a nice feel to them. But you never roll a handful of them so it is okay that way too! I have green for my Black Orcs there. I kinda would have liked the Squig dice but - I always find something else I want more than expensive dice.. Now I have to check these Space Hulk ones out, curious.. Mazer Rackham
I collect and exclusively use Chessex Dice. I love their Gemini range, the Blue/Red/Gold (for my Crimson Fists) and Blue/Slate/White (for my Space Wolves) are beautiful. I have Phantom, Gemini, and Frosted, all for different armies. The D6's come in 12mm and 16mm, and I have matching sets for D6/D10/Poly. Firedrake Cordova
The dice that came with Space Hulk (I assume you mean the "modern" version from 2009+) are larger than regular dice, so I think they might be 16mm, given regular dice are 12mm (unfortunately, my copy has been put away and isn't easy to get at, so I can't really check). Like @Mazer Rackham, I like Chessex dice (I like the Borealis, Scarab, and translucent ranges). Arikel
Most of my pretty math rocks are polyhedral sets, coming from a d&d background. I'm especially fond of the translucent ruby/swedish berry looking ones, look just like candy to me, and generally buy a new set of those every year or three as I am terrible at keeping dice sets together and coherent. For GW specifically I have a cube of GW dice from 15+ years back with the old artillery and scatter dice, that came with a mix of solid white, blue, red and green dice so you could easily pick out special weapons/leaders when batch rolling. I also have most of a set of pearlescent pink/purple/blue swirl 6 sided dice with gold pips. Most of my dice are chessex but I'll buy whatever catches my eye really, and just grab whatever d6 I have handy when it's playtime. I like to have multiple colors of dice so I can just batch roll a whole squad, with different colors for the basic weapon, specials and squad leaders. MARK0SIAN
Someone at GW was inordinately proud of the little skull they put on their small dice, so much so that they weighted the set I bought so that only the skulls would ever show. NovemberIX
I keep all my shiny clickclacks in their own box I've got a few different sets mixed in, most obvious are the B&C 16mm dice from a few years back, though I regret having lost one of my yellow ones. The blue die with an aquila was a gift from my wife when were first dating, I really like the blue and the yellow swirled dice too. I thought the green and bone dice were from space hulk, the ones below were from the Collectors release of 6th Edition, The Yellow swirl with blue pips were a gift from my FiL. On the side are casino dice in clear blue and yellow, and on top in their own box is a massive amount of AdMech Dice. Brother Nathan
Those are beaut! These are what im currently using. Want more spacehulk sized/style but without special faces. Iv been thrown by special faces. I know one player who has a mix of such and different ones with the special on the one or 6 mixed is too confusing to me even if opponent is using them right. May put all my smalls to my nids who need more and bigger to my iron warriors... Anyway these are my current dice that im actively using NovemberIX and Firedrake Cordova 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/382762-dice-the-fickle-masters/#findComment-6036463 Share on other sites
Doobles57
I'll be honest I'm kind of a sucker for overpriced dice. For some reason it just feels better rolling faction specific dice rather than generic ones - although it clearly doesn't help me roll any better. I tend to have a set for each of my armies - some GW, some 3rd party - and then just a small, cheap generic set for things like wound markers and counters. I know the GW ones are considered waaaay overpriced (and they are) but compared to some 3rd party faction branded options they're actually not THAT bad. The quality is....variable though. DemonGSides
I feel like my GW branded Blood Angel dice from around 7th are weighted to screw me over at all times. I have 3 sets of them but mostly just use regular dice from the various board games and box sets that GWs sold me over the years. Rhavien
Oh dice! One of my delicate obsessions . I like chessex, but have also some GW faction specific and other brands. My preferences however flow like the waves of the warp. Sometimes I use the old white/red/black GW dice in this weird foldable plasticbox. But sometimes it's more like a OCD. Sanguinary guard must use the golden ones with blooddrops, Death company black ones and so on. Xenith
I think most of the special ones GW have produced from the last decade have been 16mm no? They still do the standard 12mm's in flat colours with skulls on the 1's.
