Nearly done, just final highlights on the red armour panels and some more staining on the base.

Also went back a bit to finish the Librarian. Just force axe and some gem effects to go but don't want to relieve him of command until he's done.

Just incase anyone missed by main forum post about this.

The kitbash is a almost perfect fit.

You'll probably want to cut out the sarcophagus from the side panels, in my experience, as they don't fit into the area all that well otherwise.

But the Sarcophagus is so good it's worth it.

Lovely progress, I really like mephiston! Also your paint is very very smooth, which really helps.

p.s. Thoughts on y he zenithal for the gold? Do you think it added much?

I am about to find out. On the basecoat yes, very much so. I plan on washing the base coat back a lot but dry brushing gold up in spots which will probably negate this.

It's more insurance if I can't get that dry brushing right I can fall back on a slap chop effect but smaller details it carries the effect well without clotting the details with drybrushed layers.

About 3/5th done. I'd heard finecast is bad but this was pretty bad.

I didn't use detergent or a toothbrush to do the full clean (just warm water).

That reactive agent clotted in the wing recessions so colour has been hard to build there but nearly done.

Really quick shout out to a guy I heard on a pod cast the other day. It's that great painting podcast but they had a guest Quipster.

I really related to his interview having Chrons and a bit of a moving around Childhood.

Was hard to get into the game for a really, really long time but I farm and have a organisational background so have been planning nearly every brush stroke out on this project I've always wanted to do.

Little things like doing Mephiston before the Sanguinor and Lemartes (his gold paldron is good practice for the Sanguinor and the cape good practice for Lemartes).

I picked a dreadnaught first up to learn how to blend red on the bigger surfaces and have picked my squad order around different skills (hazard stripes, plasma effects).

Made me laugh a lot too, not knowing how to paint a single model HQ is so funny and relatable.  I had to batch Mephiston, Lemartes and the Sanguinor together as a squad to keep the rhythm of batch painting.

I know they say do a HQ as reward but I nearly panicked when confronted by doing a single model.

Was soooo cool to hear him talk about his theories around what I am doing and felt humbled and validated by his approach to painting being so similar.

The conscious practice thing was something I've been trying to apply master unconcious competency and I think it's showing in my painting progression.

Thanks Quipster and keep being you.

P.S the back story about  his loyalist Emperor's children captain was awesome. He got sent to the Blood Angels on a mission and we taught him the meaning of art.

80% done. Just have to highlight and dry brush up some gold. First ever power sword. I really, really hate white and I painted the vial with water instead of blood.

Wanted it to represent Sanguinius's tears when he died. Not for his Father, nor for his Brothers but for his Sons.

Hope this paint job does the Chapter and the Community proud.

Worried it won't survive the first battle round without becoming a pile of splintered plastic.

Shout out to Archies Forge UK for this kit, very quick postage to Australia if anyone is interested.

Will do the base first but just wanted to get the sarcophagus aligned to stress less. The base will be a copy of the Ballistus dreadnaught so railway tracks and same ferocrete paint.

My 2nd ever dreadnaught and I am really looking forward to this as never got to paint the original DC dreadnaught but had this on my wishlist for the codex update.

When I deploy it right up the front out of cover it will be the closest I'll come to psychological warfare without using fate dice. Baal Predator will be riding shot gun of course.

The heavy bolters will convert to sternguard style heavy bolters if you kit bash them with Infernus marines too.

army shot looks great, very cool (and inspirational) to see it all together like that

The dread conversion is good, nice use of bits

Thank you. The advice to play with your army when painting gets too hard is good advice so when I can't get a game in I try and get them all out and simply play with them.

I am burning out a bit so trying to stay motivated is hard. Actually nearly finished the 2,000 point project.

I've got the DC w/JPs primed and based and there's not a lot to them after that really. Lemartes same boat.

Sticking to armour as a break but the HQs really took a lot of concentration so need a break really.

DC dread is coming along well enough.
