What is The Call to Arms, I hear you ask?

The Call to Arms is a new multi-forum event designed to encourage us all to start a new army, or bolster our current armies.

The Forums of the B&C are divided up into four Strongholds; Imperium, Chaos, Xenos, and Heresy.  For the next three months the 7 Forums of the Imperium Stronghold will be competing to claim Victory over the other Imperial Forums, with all four Strongholds being compared at the conclusion of the Event.

There are two categories for Victory in both the Forums and Strongholds, the Forum/Stronghold who has painted the most points worth of models, and the Forum/Stronghold with the highest % of completion (Participants vs Completions).

Start Date: 15th June

End Date: 17th September

How do I join in?

Models for The Call to Arms have been allocated a point value based around their size, the time they take to paint, and the amount of effort generally taken to paint them, this is why some models of different sizes appear in the same categories, and why Characters are worth more.

The below list should cover every model for the Militarum;

1pt    Ratlings, Guardsmen, Scions

2pts   Organs, Rough Riders

3pts   HWTs, Sentinals

4pts   Ordnance Batteries, Armiger Knights

5pts   Taurox, Chimera Chassis Tanks, Leman Russ Chassis tanks

6pts   Valkyrie, Vulture, Rogal Dorn, Malcador Chassis tanks, Macharius Chassis tanks

8pts   Baneblades, Shadowswords, Hellhammers etc)

10pts  Questoris, Valliant, Castellan, and Cerastus Knights

10pts Zone Morialtis Gang Stronghold

Note: Custom/Scratchbuilt terrain- use this list as a guide as to how many points tour terrain is worth, but please make sure to mention your terrain is custom when Vowing.

All points are per model. For example if you pledge 20 Guardsmen(1ptx20), 3 Rough Riders (2ptsx3), Sentinal (3pts), and a Commissar (5pts), your vow would be worth 34pts

If you have any questions or queries, or there's a model you want to paint but isn't listed, just @Grotsmasha and I'll be more than happy to help you out.

Please feel free use this thread as a place to share your thoughts, ideas, and WIPs throughout the Event to motivate and inspire the Militarum, and the Imperium to Victory!!!

@Grotsmasha Sorry to bug you across threads mate but just to clarify is an Platoon Command Squad/Cadian Command Squad 5pts total or 9pts (5 for Officer, 4 for the rest)?

Just trying to maths my way through what I am planning.  Its a lot. But do you expect anything else from me...?

Small question re points.

Ogryns/Bullgryns are quite a bit bigger than the other 1pt options, should they be in the 2pts group?

Likewise the Field Ordnance Batteries are on 100mm bases which is larger than by far than the other in that grouping, even Sentinels are only on 80mm so would the Field Ordnance Batteries make more sense in the 3pts group?

Edit: Self interest disclaimer, I may be painting 2 FOB for this event, not entirely sure yet. No Ogryn/Bullgryns this time round, but having painted a bunch in the past it feels wired to be in the same category as guardsmen.

Having re-familiarised with the Ogryn models, they are bigger than I remember, and I'd say they're comparable to Centurions, and I'll move them to the 2pt bracket.

Due to poor communication/clarification on my part, the FOB is actually 4pts, the FOB is 2ps, but the crew are still +1pt each. Last year I edited vows to work this way, with FOBs, HWTs, Arldari Support Weapons. I meant to update them this year to reflect, so I'll also update those too.

I, Trokair, heed the Call to Arms and pledge to paint 15 Guardsmen, 10 Rough Riders and 2 Field Ordnance Batteries  for 33 pts for the Glory of Imperial Guard and the Imperium Stronghold on or before 17th September 2024, or bear the badge of failure until years end.

Edit: @Grotsmasha, it occurs to me that I may have vowed in the wrong thread, should I repost in the Imperium Stronghold?

Been working on the first of 20 snap fit IG and after trimming the excess plastic (chest piece and rifle butt/arm) got around to priming last Sunday and spent a couple of hours per evening painting them up. Here is how they look now...
Another 10 to do then I will get around to the Rifles/arms.

I've recently been able to grab a load of second hand infantry that I'll try and work though for this challenge. The first batch (all the "standard" lasgun wielding men) are currently soaking in paint remover, I'll make a pledge with a stripped image once they've all had a good scrub.

Paint has been removed, Vow has been made. I'll spend some time doing some further cleanup of the models, removing mold lines and reposing some parts that I'm not a fan of - some troopers are holding their grenade throwing arms at interesting angles - and then I'll probably start painting once I return from my vacation.

So far I have a Vox, Sergeant and Banner done, a bit of slow start but helped me get back into the procedure for them from a year and a half ago when I did the initial squad, so the rest of the guardsmen will hopefully got a bit quicker.

No photos this weekend but I have painted another 12 torsos and leg assemblies. Next up the last 11 torsos and leg assemblies then a couple of weeks painting arms, heads and equipment then I will be done.

Planning for mid August to have completed my vow then maybe a couple of cheeky characters to finish off.

Unfortunately life has been busier than expected, and I'm spending more time at my parents' (and thus away from my models) than expected. I've not yet been able to put primer on them. I'm hoping to finally put some paint on them this weekend.

I finally have some actual progress to report. It's not much yet, but I've finally settled on a colour scheme and painting technique. I'm not quite happy with the basing yet, so I'm gonna be experimenting with some different colours for the ground, as well as seeing how the lichen look when I apply them on top of the basing texture. Calling this fella done though, Vow progress at 1/32, but the assembly line will be opening shortly
