Some cool looking options for the Canoness. They also showed off a halberd in the stream which it maybe my favourite of the option show. Box set doesn't tempt me, too many Seraphim but I suppose that expected seeing as the new hero is a jump character.

I've been neglecting my Sisters collection for a while (mostly because GW released Seraphon, Flesh Eater Courts, Kroot all in a 12 month span), but this mini makes me want to get back into them. I love the options. Halberd is great, but I'm also a mace-man

The Battle Force is a little jump heavy, but I have wanted to expand my jump strength and I need an exorcist. Really gonna think hard about that box.

New combat patrol is also very tempting for me. I wanted to expand my SoB squads, get more arcos, and I don't have any Sacresancts.

To follow a trend, I've also neglected my sisters recently (last new unit I painted was the Mech suits...and I've still got stuff to do) but I do like the jump canoness. Having a squad of 5 seraphim already, I'm not sure the box is something I need. What's the new combat patrol for sisters?

The new Combat Patrol: Adepta Sororitas is a versatile and powerful infantry force with loads of mobile firepower and a heavy close combat punch thanks to its five Celestian Sacresanvts and ten frenzied Arco-flagellants. The Canoness who leads the force can get stuck into the melee by joining the Celestians, or stand back with the squad of 10 Battle Sisters to better guide their gunfire.

Now this sounds much more like my thing. I have a little bit of Sisters in my back log from when they got their big refresh a couple of editions ago, if I wanted to expand on that then these are definitely the sort of models I'd be interested in picking up.

I already have a ton of Sisters, but I'm light on Seraphim- only one unit, and I had wanted at least 3; I also don't have an Exorcist, so that battleforce is great for me.

I'm gonna run the munitorum on my Sisters- I have a fair bit, but I've never checked points- most of them are still in boxes. Jump Canoness is very welcome, especially for a Crusader- previously the only leader option for jump units was named, and taking named characters in Crusade doesn't really work since they can't grow. We'll have to check the price on that- in Canada, I think that's $260-300.

Edit: The point value of the box, assuming 60 points for the Jump Canoness would be 420-480 depending on whether you build Seraphim or Zephyrim, which would take the point value of my army to 3150-3210... That's without classic metal and Agents.

Kind of shocking you don't have one yet, I always thought of you as one of the main SoB guys here. I don't have one either but my attention has been split by other releases

This box really plugs a hole in my nascent SoB army, since I haven't had a chance to bulk out their jump units and haven't bought artillery yet...

Man, between this and the Mechanicum box GW is getting really clever about shaking me down lol.

Vehicles intimidate me- I'm an infantry guy. I do have a classic exorcist, but it isn't painted, and I think I'd rather do a new one so it matches the Immo.

"Codex: Adepta Sororitas will arrive alongside the new Battleforce, and expands your options for the Emperor’s evangelical warriors with four Detachments, revised Crusade rules that follow your characters on their path to become a Living Saint, and updated datasheets – including a new one for the Canoness with Jump Pack."

4 detachments is not a good news. Rumors says there are current index one, a fanatic melee one, a heavy weapons shooting one, a jump pack one.

“Give sister Maria the banner today! She’s been neglecting in her duties and i need a laugh”

The jump sister with the banner and flaming top looks like a joke … I know this is 40k and silly things fill it but that looks dumb … the rest is cool.

++EDIT++
except oxydo who thinks flying banners and flame poles are cool

So, this RE is definitely not Sisters. Has to be BA right?

Could also just be AoS Stormcast since the new Lord Veritant has the exact same kind of writing on his scrolls:

Same big letter at the start of a paragraph but even more importantly the same dot between paragraphs

This whole release is defined by a lack of effort on GWs part.  After the support Sisters have got the last two editions I understand that it was going to be a single model release this time.  Just a shame even that was phoned in.

Let's start with the Jump Canoness herself.  As a concept it's great, Seph/Zeph needed something other than Celestine to lead them.  The model however is very bland, the Zeph Superior has more presence.  I think an opponent would be hard pressed to pick out the Canoness in a Seph/Zeph unit.  It's not a bad model by any stretch it's just very bland.  Had this been a Superior it would be fine but as a stand alone character it falls short.  Plus on a personal note I'm not a fan of the pose which looks like she has just tripped over that bit of protruding ruin.

Battle force suffers from the same issue as that Space Marine one from a couple of years back that was 15 heavy intercessors, it's too much of one model.  Many people will have some Seph/Zeph already and I doubt anyone needs another 15 on top.  If you've got none you ever have to buy them again I guess.  Plus what is the Exorcist doing there?  Seems to just make up the value of the box.  A better bet would have been a Castigator if you had to have a vehicle.  Again minimum effort.

The Combat Patrol is simply last year's Boarding Patrol box with the Repentia swapped for Arcos.  It's a big down grade on the current box which, strange Arco unit size aside, currently provides a great Pick N Mix beginner force covering all the major facets of the army.  The new one also lacks any focal point model.  It's not a bad CP but it's not exactly going to grab people to play the faction.

Finally the Codex.  You could hear how disinterested Stu and Josh were when they were talking about the book.  For an army with a reasonable amount of diversity in play styles from older books 4 detachments is down right lazy.  Considering you need one that is mainly ministorum focused (like the Kroot, SoS, etc) and one is simply the index detachment that leaves two specialist sisters detachments.  I think Stu saying his highlight of the codex was a force org chart that has been around since 8th says it all really.  No effort.

So to sum up I'll get the Jump Canoness at some point once I find it cheap somewhere.  Otherwise I can't see any point in splashing out on a lazy codex when the index is working fine.  The discount boxes don't inspire any desire to splash a bit of extra cash.  I wasn't expecting much from this release, sisters have been spoilt and a fallow edition is understandable but that doesn't excuse how lazy GW have been.

While I'd agree with this for the basic pistol-melee loadout, the two handed halberd or eviscerator give her a pretty unique look.

With regards to the Combat Patrol, there's definitely been a shift in philosophy since they've become armies-in-a-box for a unique game mode rather than simply a starter bundle. They're definitely moving away from "focal point" centrepieces like the Redemptor for Dark Angels and the Ghostkeel in T'au, presumably for balance reasons. It seems pointless to me to compare the old combat patrols to the new ones because they're essentially completely different in purpose.
