genestealer cults benefictus and army box

Something like hybridising different animals/abhumans would be pretty ace, though the obvious mining ogryns or cavalry are a bit close to existing units imagine genestealer big cats or even beasts of burden... Just losing the hair would make them look pretty weird and alien.

Or Sewer gators? :D

For me, it’s the first GSC mini I'm not that keen on looks wise. And while my first thought was “Another character, just what we need”, I really can’t think of much else that GSC do need that can’t be covered by either the current range or things brought in through Brood Brothers (unless the rule changes in the new Codex).

That’s how I feel too. What do we really need?

I thought of maybe a heavy weapons team that’s not a vehicle, something with range. I just don’t know if that fits the army and we have the ridge runners. So I don’t know.

Maybe flying jet pack assault troops?

Some sort of Ambot would give us a tough unit that fits the mining theme.

I did have a weird idea of an injured patriarch being turned into a pet Ambot cyborg by an over enthusiastic scientist but then I am very tired and slightly hungover…

I can't remember which book it is but I'm sure someone does something similar to that with a 'standard' purestrain 'stealer.

Previous hybrids all followed the Genestealer template because obviously they do, and this one does look like it came out of left field from a Genestealer who was carrying some Zoanthrope DNA around.

GSC patriarchs have the big brain thing going on as well, while Hive Fleet spawned Broodlords are quite different, having a different role. Probably less feasting on brainwaves than the patriarch would get - in the GSC, the patriarch is the strongest psyker so gets a big brain, in the fleet, the broodlord is nowhere near so doesn't undergo that specialised adaptation/evolution, but probably, genetically, has the capacity to. This model seems more along the patriarch brain size avenue.

Like the concept, the face just seems off or poorly done to me, considering how good all the other sculpts in the range are.

I think it would have been better with a more genestealery face, rather than mashing a normal human face onto a massive brain.

Another caharacter for GSC, as if they don't have enough already. This is why I ditched GSC, my (unlike this character) small brain could not get around all the synergies and buffs and counter-buffs or nerfs that all the characters could give. It was as if you needed to have every one of them to build an army that was not going to crumble at first contact with a bolter round. I like the models, which is why I kept them to play Necromunda with.

I am now a CSM player, which I find much more user friendly for my mental capacity!

I really like the Benefictus.

The Genestealer Cults however need another unit or two, to round out selections. I'm not quite sure what that would be, maybe a tougher elite choice or another vehicle. The army certainly has an overabundance of (cool) characters.

A transport drill that deep strikes from the deeps. Genestealer infected hounds with a handler. Unstable, exploding abominations

I like the idea of the Ambot type unit, it would fit really well. I think the trouble with adding in things like heavy weapons or jump squads is that thematically, and to an extent rules wise, those would likely be drawn from Guard units as Brood brothers. Maybe more hybridised stuff could work, but it might be a struggle not to overlap with existing units functions

I've always thought that some variant of the Termite transport drill would feel very GSC.

And then something akin to Ripley's cargo loader from Aliens, which wouldn't be too far removed from the Marine infiltrator walker thing - feels like to would suit our mining aesthetic, whilst offering something different.

I remember FW used to do an upgrade kit for the IG sentinel that incorporated power loader type claws. That would have been appropriate for GSC to Steal

It needs a LOW Bucket Wheel Excavator, perhaps one that dual builds with a great big crane/demolition ball.

One of these but with the spinning blades sharpened and reinforced.

I've been wanting Industrial Cranes vs Stompas/Gargants since that bit of fluff from the Second War for Armageddon, even more so once the Genestealer Cult started to use adapted mining vehicles.

That'd work brilliantly as a centrepiece model for GSC

Hey man, you can't just take Perturabo's Daemon form and give it to the GCS!
