I guess I just got fixated on assembly line. Also I do about an hour or 2 each time I sit down. And now this is getting close to done as well.

I o similar when I batch paint too, I'll do prime, wash, layer for EVERYTHING. Then I'll switch to details and highlights one model at a time. I've found it has the best of both worlds, I get the monotonous grind pout of the way, and then I get the gratification of "finishing" a model every 30-45mins. It's win/win.

I've tried batch painting but I just can't,  I get horribly bored and I find the small amounts of time I have for painting I put off.  I keep watching people paint these whole armies at a time (on YouTube, I'm not that creepy) and I am am totally jealous.  I suppose once I get past the grind things might improve. Really need something as I've had an atrocious and unproductive week and am miles behind where I needed to be at this point for what I wanted to achieve.

Reporting some progress before enjoying sunday´s roast:

Spoiler

The scenry entries are done, for a total of 13 pts out of the 69 I pledged.

The Generatorum hub has required slightly more work than similarly sized models such as the landing Pad from Moroch set. Yet it is also a feature fronmt eh paint scheme selected.

It is now that more complex paint jobs will start...

Batch painting really does lend itself to having a longer session available for the first step (Prime/Wash/Base), but once thats done the second step will reall help with motivation.

I might give it a try for the rest of the Imperium stuff I have on the go for this challenge.  I mean I need to get it done for the Iron Gauntlet sooner rather then later anyway so I might see how I go.  Its only small squads of different guys so that might help too.  Just need to get the first guys done first.  Almost got them sorted.  In those final details stages but finding time some what of a luxury at the moment.

Batch painting isn't something I do very often for sure. As said gets boring fast. I usually have a friend over that's modeling as well so conversation keeps things going. When by myself, I have Buffy or Bones or Rizzoli and Isles playing on the TV . They are shows that I can just listen to and visualize while I'm painting or building. I've been doing mini painting for over 40 years now and find ways to enjoy it still.

PROGRESS:

Left 2 are gonna be 'Kasrkin' (red faceplate and pauldrons - arc rifle is going to count as volley gun), right 3 from L to R are Comms, Standard and Captain for Command squad. I know the eyes on the left guys especially needs some work, but I'm going to hold off on final detailing until I have everyone assembled and table ready.

Also just assembled Kasrkin Sgt and special, plus medic for command squad:

Honestly, the Kasrkin arms work pretty dang well on solar aux bodies IMO. They're slightly large, but I'm writing that off to extra heavy armour.

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

I, The_Unseen, heed the Call to Arms and pledge to paint 2 Vindicator Siege Tanks worth 10 Pts for the Glory of the Blood Angels (Adeptus Astartes) and the Imperium Stronghold on or before 17th September 2024, or bear the badge of (Falling to the Rage) until years end.

Starting small, but if I get these painted up quickly enough: my pile of shame needs several more chunks removed.

Somewhat related, I was thinking about possible follow-up vows, and I still have a Dorn lying around that I want to get to at some point that I plan on magnetizing. I was wondering if there were any bonus points for painting the other loadout options as well?

I'm not opposed to allowing points for alternate loadouts, post a pic of all the components with a Guardsman for scale and we'll sort out an appropriate point cost

Cool, I'l keep that in mind for later on. First step will be to get these fellas painted, and see how much time that takes / how busy I'll be this summer

I, FarFromSam, vow to complete 13 vanguard vets, 10 Sternguard vets for 23 points, and 11 characters for 55.  Tech marine,  2 chaplains, 1 chaplain with jump pack, 4 captains,  1 captain with jump pack, and a lieutenant.  For 78 points total.   Ignore the dreads and watchers.

Started on the terminator Captain tonight; decided on going with Scythes of the Emperor for the scheme. Got the armor painted, plus any white parts. This is my first time using black or yellow contrast paints and I’m really liking them. I’ll be up front with the fact that I am far from a good or experienced painter, but I’m happy with how he’s coming along so far. I tried to go with a burnt, smudged effect on the vents on the back of the armor, but I’m not sure if I’ll keep it that way or not yet.

Edit to avoid double posting:

Finished the terminator Captain today. Might go back and touch up a couple of spots, but overall I’m pretty happy with how he turned out. Instead of trying my hand at freehanding the chapter symbol, I’m either going to order decal paper and print out the decals myself, or order them online if I can find them.
