Transport Questions

Are there any additional special rules that I've missed detailing what happens to passengers when their aircraft is destroyed? I've had a look in the transport section of the rules and can only see the 4+ pseudo save.

 

Speaking of the save - can I elect not to take it? 

e.g, fully laden rhinos with a single tactical squad requiring coherency slowing the transports down. Could I choose to not save that tactical squad thereby giving me my full movement with the rhinos?

If they're anything other than jump infantry and their flyer goes down they're dead. Jump infantry have a carve out because they're basically wearing parachutes. Ground transports, models get a 4+ save.
