GuitaRasmus' Kill Team Projects - Now making... Noise Marines!

Love the tweaked champion! The difference in size between both arms is immediately noticeable, although easily explained away by it being a chaos mutation. I wonder if a different left shoulder pad might work better (and remove the arm further from its Eightbound origins). As for the right arm, I love the stylings of the arm itself, but there's something bothering me about that shape of the blade, although I cannot quite put it into words. And in any case, I have zero doubts that the model will end up looking amazing once it's been painted.

Thanks! My painting and gaming group often accuse me of making models too symmetrical, so it's something I'm actively working on trying to not do.  Anyway, I kinda like it as is, and it's very close to being finished (along with the rest of the kill team), so I'll hopefully have some pics to show by next week. Really happy with the colour scheme I came up with, and very excited to show you guys.

“I have shattered the craftworld of Lugganath with my song, little Aeldari… What do you imagine I can do to you?”

They’re finally done. After 4 years of (on-off) working on them, getting new ideas, making conversions, scrapping said conversions, searching the web for cool printable bits and not finding any, finally deciding to learn Blender (3d sculpting software) and making my own, and getting them painted over the last two months, my Noise Marine Kill Team. is. Finally. Done.

I’m really proud of them. They fought me every step of the way, but ever since reading the depictions of Noise Marines in the Fabius Bile trilogy, I wanted to make some - but I hate the 80’s guitar hero thing, and wanted to convey the utter horror, debasedness (is that a word?), and chilling creepiness of a group of 8 feet tall, genetically modified psychopaths, mutated beyond recognition, using sound as weapons, and caring ONLY for experiencing MORE - no matter the cost.

Like I said, the Kill Team really came together when I decided to do my own parts, and the Sonic weapons, heads and backpacks made them FEEL like the vision I had.

The colour scheme wasn’t easy to come up with as well, and I made 4-5 attempts, stripping them and starting again, until I decided on this. I wanted something that looked unlike any other traitor chapter, with purples, magentas and pinks, while not looking like something from My Little Pony - so I decided on a very desaturated purple/grey/ivory tone for the armour and some purple/magenta for the shoulders to warm up the colour scheme.

And yes, some of you will ask “why no glow/osl on the sonic weapons?” - believe me, I’ve tried. I love osl, and definitely wanted them to have it, but no matter what colour I tried (I even went as far as loading an image into PS, and using sliders to try every colour of the spectrum), it ended up overpowering the desaturated tones way to much, and ruining the feel - so, until I get another idea, they’ll stay like this.

For anyone wondering, they’ll be played as Nemesis Claw - it suddenly dawned on me, that almost everything about them is perfect for Emperors Children - sonic screams, mutilation of enemies, wearing skin as cloaks, etc. I’m gonna try them out at some of my painting groups KT weekend hangout this weekend, and really looking forward to it.

Any inputs, comments or questions are much appreciated. :)

The kill team is looking absolutely fantastic, and your custom bitz blend in seamlessly, making these look like some of the best EC artwork! Each of the models is so full of sinister character -- a triumph!

One tiny gripe: It seems weird that what looks like a leather strap (with a tiny ring) on the champion's forehead hasn't been painted?!

Thanks for the kind words - it means a lot, when I've poured so much energy and time into these guys. :)

I can see what you mean, but it isn't actually a strap - it's his own skin, stretched by the ring. What's really weird is, that the ring IS painted - but it really doesn't look like it on the pics.

Oh, these are stunning - I love the bits you've made and the finished Kill Team is absolutely nightmarishly decadent. Hail to the Darkling Prince!

Thanks a lot, really appreciate it. :)

Huh, I see about the flap of skin (so it IS leather, after a fashion ), but the ring does indeed look completely unpainted -- how strange...

Absolutely wonderful team you have here! This to me is the epitome of kill team: lots of conversion and passion to make your kill team unique and YOURS. Much less daunting when you only have to convert 6-11 guys instead of an entire army.

Beautiful minis, so well painted

Thanks a lot! :)

These minis are really outstanding, pure and simple. I need these 3D bitz to make some squads in the very near future...

The paintjob and the conversions are just great.

Thanks man - really happy that I've made some bitz that other people can enjoy. :)

Thank you very much. :) That is the *exact* reason I got into Kill Team (and the more manageble timeframe it takes to play a game) - I've always loved making every single miniature my own, but it was such a slog to do a whole army. With KT, I can go to town, do my best on every model, and it is still a sort of small project that I can finish over the course of some months, not years.

WOWZA!

Thanks! :)
