Oh im sure that Primaris Breachers will be a thing eventually.

I meant proper space marines. There will probably be some in HH at some point, though, so you're right. Still sore I missed out on the Forgeworld Siege Assault squad.

You know, maybe I'm a bit "Horus Heresy-centred" but I think this supplement would be make more and better service in Horus Heresy than in the current edition of W40K.

A good opportunity to expand zone mortalis with more specific rules for boarding actions, like in Badab War, new equipment options, and even more units, general and legion specific. And a great opportunity to launch a plastic Breachers squad...

I'd certainly be content if HH had its own Boarding Actions equivalent, but I don't advocate for it to be removed from 40k. I'm not sure you're advocating for that either- saying it would work better in one system than the other doesn't necessarily mean you want to cancel it in 40k.

I like what I've heard about HH, it does sound like a decent system, and the model range is beautiful (that Mechanicus Force... Damn! It almost got me). I'd happily play.... As soon as Xenos and Sisters can play. It's why I object to anything being moved from 40k to HH- Including GW boomeranging back some of the HH models that were once allowed and moving them into Legends. I'm not a Marine guy, but I do love those Chamber Militant armies, and I'd happily buy a Spartan for both the GK and the Deathwatch if GW didn't work so hard to prevent me from spending money on their products.

Aside: To be clear, I myself have no problem with Legends, and I do use the cards for models I already have. I just have a hard time buying new, expensive models that have already gone to Legends because it can be an indicator that the model will eventually be cut.

Looks like this month's White Dwarf shows most of the detachments (43 of 55) that will be in the supplement.  Also, this is coming up for pre-order this weekend.  Anyone have an idea if a different price could be expected here given it is a softcover book?  It is 296 pages, so I could see it still being the same as the standard codex price, or nearly there.

I saw this and thought "Neat, I'll be able to see that TSons have in this now!" and lo and behold they're not one of the factions shown here.

Guess I need to keep waiting then.

Primaris are "Proper" Space Marines tho, at least for 40k (also do Bladeguard Vets not count?)

For Firstborn Marines, the Horus Heresy Command Upgrade sprue has Shields in it:

Those are storm shields, not boarding shields - ditto bladeguard, and they are also, you know, Primaris.

Gotta have that gun slit in the side -

Either way, as you say, we may well get one soon!

out of interest, does the book contain significant amounts of fluff?

Nuh uh, it's only a REAL marine if it has 19 organs OR LESS, any more is heresy because the most magnificient Emperor surely would've objected to even better marines. (he also didn't have a research team, all lies) extra cawl organs? heresy. insanguination? heresy. canis helix? heresy. black dragons talons? heresy.

If it wasn't around during the heresy it's, well, heresy; Cawl guns and vehicles? heresy. storm bolters? heresy, razorbacks? heresy. centurions? heresy. deathwatch? heresy. whatever the space wolves cooked up? heresy. any innovation that always was solely reserved for marines and the prosecution of war instead of actual helpful technologies in a way preserving grimdark? somehow actually heresy.

For real though, this will never stop. The little jabs that each others dollies aren't the right ones, the talking down to each other because "generic super soldier" is the wrong kind of "super". The needless insults clad as "banter" about irrelevant stuff like the damn colour of paint one uses. It'll be a decade soon. There is only arguing.

in the grim darkness of the 21st century there is only bickering.
But seriously - lore content for the new book? Yea or nay?

Rules for the factions start at 186, and since i doubt it contains 185 pages of just boarding patrol rules i assume at least a third of that is fluff, with at least a good chunk of showing off displays.

Anyones guess if it's just recycled arks of omen sections, completely new stuff or a mix of the two.

Ooh, should I have watched that before ordering? Naaaah....

Goonhammer Boarding Action Review

Having a quick read of the above link, the most important thing I took was that these are the Arks of Omen missions re-worked for 10th. They even break down which book they come from.

On top of that are the detachments, Tactical Manoeuvres and Strategems.

Now, that works for me as I missed out on the AoA books and am coming from Kill Team. Whether it is a worthy time for those that already have that stuff? I guess it depends how heavily invested you are in this edition.
