I'd actually be interested in seeing someone swap the shield captian and nucoteaz legs, just to see if that fixes the proportions of both models.

A joke from a spaghetti Western:

A Skitarii, an Inquisitor and a Custodes walk into a bar...

Any model can be salvaged, one way or another.

Any serious attempt at salvaging that model will begin with the complete removal of the lower half.

The only thing 40K had going for it was cool models, and now that has gone to :cuss: as well.

This one is admittedly real bad, but it doesn't make the entire system bad. Still plenty of good stuff in 40K, Tyranids and Kroot in this edition being good recent examples.

Yes, occasionally there are some stinkers but it's not the norm. Plenty of examples for good minis in recent months.

I know it sucks 'cause Inquisition is such a great and important part of 40k and we get a lukewarm codex(fluff art-wise but we still have to see) and a mini who looks like a downgrade.

This model should only be allowed to requisition the Primaris go kart :)

One bad model is not a big deal. If you don't like it, don't buy it. There are other Inquisitor models that looks much better and the old Coteaz model is available 2nd hand.

Honestly, it would probably be easier to convert or kitbash Coteaz than to spend time trying to fix this model.

Throne damn it, of course somebody got there ahead of me :D

10/10, wish the official mini was that cool.

Relax, its a single poor model

It does seem that people are fixated on the model for whatever reason.  It’s not the worst I’ve ever seen, but it’s for a named character anyway, which pretty much puts it off my radar completely as I am not interested in them as a general rule.

The codex itself seems pretty cool, which is much more important anyways. Trying to not get too excited until I see a bit more of it but everything apart from the trivial model has been pretty impressive so far.

If only they'd provide us with a better hint about the release date... For me, this has been the biggest and most important news since the edition dropped, with the Kroot Box being a close second.

Totally agree.

GW dropped the ball with that model but it's not the be all and end all and certainly won't stop me buying the codex.

Personally I like the model. My one criticism is that I think Coteaz should look more decrepit (the man was described as being at the end of his rope since before the great rift and has been real busy about that and Vashtorr since) but I don't have that big an issue with the power armour being too bulky (got to fit the servos so you can keep up with space marines).

I do have a place for the codex in a narrative campaign I'm planning for my group but in terms of the meta I can't see it going down too well given the options we've seen so far. I am expecting the codex to give access to more vehicles than initially shown, including rhinos, razorbacks, and land raiders, given that they're a well established vehicle pool for all branches bar navy and rogue trader (who don't really get paired with land vehicles anyway).
This is all as a standalone anyway. I do expect that the codex gets snatched up by Imperial players longing to revive the 8th ed. soup days (knights with cheap infantry! guard with deep striking terminators!) but we'll see how that one plays out.

My 'shelf' army certainly will be Knights and a Titan under the requisition of an Inquisition force.

Nothing says we're serious about your death more than one dude commanding the big boys.

Shame it was ruined historically by the usual unbalance. But shelf armies don't care about anything other than looking cool.

While it is just one bad model and that alone doesn't mean everything is bad now, that it happened to this extent is just strange. Like, it's not as if there's only a few small things with it done a bit oddly, or as if they wanted an entirely different design that people just don't like as much....it's a mix of multiple baffling decisions and just poor design choices that are immediately apparant.

Thinking Coteaz needs hair now (which completely changes his feel), the weird proportions, the removal of the majority of the extra elements like the book that added a sense of character, the almost complete lack of any actual detail as if the model was only half-finished, the comically oversized purity seals, the choice of the underside of the birds wing touching a pillar, that the few details they've got from the original model just seem like they're out of place and stuck on randomly.

There's so many things that are quite obviously done badly with it that it's baffling how it got approved, that someone must have genuinely thought it was good, and that while making it at no point did anyone realize those things. Either that, or its an indication they just didn't care about the codex and miniature.

It's just the one bad miniature, but that it got to that level of bad is just absurd.

It's not just 1 model though eh. The single new model released for the Agents of the Imperium Codex is rubbish. The single new model releeased for the Custodes Codex is rubbish. The new Marine squad Desolators were rubbish...
