Also, I'm having a hard time understanding the status of the Deathwatch going forward, will they get a Codex Supplement in the future or is this new Codex the only place to get their rules? If the new codex is the only place, what does it mean for Deathwatch only armies? It says there that you can mix the SM Codex with the Deathwatch stuff from this one, so will it act as a codex supplement of shorts or that option is gone and you will only be able to add some units to a Space Marine army?

No further codex, this is them for 10th edition. You play a Codex SM army and add any Deathwatch-specific units from this codex. So yes, this is a supplement of sorts for the SM Codex if you want to play an all-Deathwatch army.

The new Codex also features Watch Masters, Corvus Blackstars, and Watch Captain Artemis (returning to the range after an absence), so you can include a full Deathwatch contingent in any IMPERIUM army, complete with leaders, squads, and transports. Those with full Deathwatch Space Marine armies needn’t worry – they can add the Deathwatch-specific units to a Space Marine army of black-clad units like Intercessors and Terminators, melding the strong foundations and Detachments of Codex: Space Marines with themed specialists from Codex: Imperial Agents.

If I'm reading this right, this sucks for the people that have full Deathwatch armies? Loss of the Deathwatch detatchment and army composition they currently have and turned into allies for a normal space marine army? So you'd get your normal marines in a Gladius Detatchment and you'd get some Deathwatch marines not benefitting

As far as I understood it you add DW to SM in the same way you can add any IA to any Imperium army. So I'd you want a deathwatch army you are supposed to just paint a generic SM army black and add some IA support in the form of the actual DW units

I do wish they had brought back or modernized the third edition storm troopers in a new plastic kit - they were painted fabulously as Inquisitorial Storm Troopers in Codex Daemonhunters and Codex Witch Hunters, and would be such a fun distinct look to have.

I think the Tempestus Scions look pretty close to these guys actually, All that you need is the paintjob.

All jokes about him looking like a weird Stormcast aside (and, look, I made my own stand-in from a Stormcast like 2 years ago) I really dig the option to include GK terminators or battle sisters in Imperium armies, that's a nice little value add for a lore nerd like myself. Makes for good little themed Inquisitorial strike forces.

That seems to be the case, unless the units from the Codex can somehow make use of the Ordo Xenos detachment, or perhaps the DW units will have a rule allowing them to benefit from whatever Codex Detachment you choose to run.

We've yet to actually see the rules for anything Deathwatch related.

It's entirely possible that Deathwatch units now have a rule where they simply are just "Space Marines" in terms of Detachment eligibility.

Also regarding Coteaz, he looks like he's missing a decal of few tbh.

Too much flat space that feels like there's supposed to be an Inquisitorial "I" transfer in there.

Also, in case people didn't spot them, the BSF Navigator guy (who is currently in Legends, btw) is in the Ordo Xenos box and Taddeus is in the Ordo Hereticus Box.

The BSF Flamethrower Priest is in the Ordo Malleus box, but they just got a new re-release with SoB.

Looking at Coteaz again, the head sculpt isn't great, but those CHUNKY legs aren't doing him any favours, either. The upper section of the thigh looks like Fallout power armour, with that off lip, and it's throwing it off for me. Those calves are insane, too. Look, he may be nicer in person, but I'm gonna keep to my custom for now.

...And maybe wait till next year to get a box of Grey Knight Tallminators. I'm ruined by Leviathan, I can't go back to short terminators.

I completely missed that, nice spot. Good to see them coming out on their own, they are both fantastic minis.

I absolutely love the "mix-and-match" idea for the Inq codex... But Inquisitor Thicceaz is a total miss. Oof, I'd definitely look into converting from the new Stormcast:

or, alternatively, I might sacrifice one of my metal Sternguard who have a similar gorget style of armor.

I think that will be evidenced by if their profile is in this book. It sort of suggests the terminators are printed in there and if so, suggests they won't likely be replaced imo.

not sure i understand. they can release an updated models without changing the profile...

I have to say the new model definitely looks like a man in power armour; it looks like it has space for all the cabling, muscle bundles, and servos, while clearly being less sophisticated than what a marine has access to.  The lack of detail could plausibly be made up by either transfers, freehanding, or greenstuff, but 99% of people won't probably bother with that.

Also those GK terminators are in deparate need of a glow up.

Two more things quickly:

1) Unless I'm mistaken, with the return of the BSF Navigator this might be the first time in 10th where something has returned from Legends in the same edition it entered it. (Possibly first in 40k etc all, idk)

2) It's entirely possible that, due to Deathwatch being the sole Ordo Xenos reps (bar the Inquisitior with a Dragon) we've had so far, the current Deathwatch Detachment could actually be the Ordo Xenos Detachment.

Also, am I reading this right that any Imperium army can now just Soup in a unit of Battle Sisters or Grey Knights?
