Bouargh
Legends just work as any other datasheet. But I maybe not understood your question. But it is rarely allowed in tournaments AFAIK, as these are not considered in the balance dataslates or point adjustments in general. But this is a decision of each trournament organizers. Some stuff in the list do not really have equivalents in non-Legends´entries: - Chaplain dreads - Leviathans The 3 Relic contemptors neither, but you can get something close using Moirax Armingers as 3 Freeblades (with 2 Volkite Veuglaires). So they are probably the easiest to change. And if you drop the idea of characters and special rules associated to the Chaplain dreads, 2 Primaris redemptor dreads with plasma gun will probably do something equivalent. To get something close of Leviathans, Knights are required, but Freeblade slots are rare and costly and probably better used as proxis for the 3 Relic contemptors. So this block of 430 pts can be used for fielding tanks instead, in order to try to match in fire power at least. Alternatively, a stormraven (or 2) can be used getting you mobility for the transported Dread. But a stormraven does not have the firepower of a Leviathan. Otherwise add 3 Ballistus, it will ot be far in terms of points but are going to be really edundant vs. the other dreads. I used a couple of time a similar list with my SW - March of the Ancient list I called it (OK I borrowed the name) - but only in friendly games and with opponents duly advised in advance or on accorded scenarios. Within a scenario, Siege of the Fang story type, we got a draw (vs. CSM with a lot of daemon engines and Havocs). In a game without scenario, but advised in advance, the opponent list (craftworlds) was tailor made to crack open tin boxes and I have been massacred to the last. Wraithguard, D-Cannons and Wraithknights are a real threat. TrawlingCleaner
Legends are useable in all game modes, GW recommend not using them in Tournaments and every Tournament I've seen don't allow them. I've yet to meet someone or a group that doesn't want Legends in their games (outside of a tournament of course), everyone loves to see old school stuff! INKS
This person took 2nd place in a tournament. just thought it was really cool. My question about legends was - if you were just allowed to take them in tournaments and such. I am wondering now what is the best SM faction or maybe Custodes to take where you can get away with all dreads or nearly all dreads. few tech marines or maybe an HQ choice because you have to, kind of list. maybe steering clear of legends since that seems to be a - maybe you can take them and maybe you can not. 8 minutes ago, TrawlingCleaner said: Legends are useable in all game modes, GW recommend not using them in Tournaments and every Tournament I've seen don't allow them. Yeah, I've seen them pop up a few times now in tournaments and this is why I ask. this list above has a TON of them, but once in a while I see a single legends unit here or there. Indy Techwisp
4 hours ago, INKS said: ~~snip~~ Basically, Legends datasheets are just datasheets that are no longer being updated or were replaced and therefore removed from the codex. Most GW or GW Backed tournaments don't allow any Legends datasheets, but for local Tourneys it's up to the organisers to decide what Legends stuff can or cannot be used (if any). As a note: Sometimes Datasheets are sent to Legends because they're too OP and the replacement datasheet/datasheets were different enough that the original is essentially a different unit entirely. An example of this is the Crisis Suit datasheet, which is absolutely busted because of the Triple-CIBs and therefore often remains banned even when most Legends stuff is permitted. INKS
Follow up question to the one above as well, do you think IH are the best for an all dread list. or 99% dread list as it were? Bouargh
I would say that the best for a full dread list are Space wolves or Blood angels. Both indeed get characters incarcerated in Dreads. Yet how will BA be affected in a near future is something to be considered: will the boxnaught librarian disappear for example, or furisoso with frag cannon? It is a potential hit that is worth being considered as I would say that a 100% dreadlist based on BA would be slightly better rated than the SW one. Not much, but enough to get to think about it. Both also have benefit of fielding more HtH orientad dreads than other SM, even if the release of the Brutalis changed that.
