"While there are well documented cases of the Malstrain infecting all manner of creatures, it is only recently the 'Hab-Omicron Stalker' has been reported. Initial thoughts are the original genus of this Malstrain mutation are one of Necromundan giant rat breeds, but given only blurry pict  feeds have been shared, it's genus remains unknown" - Cataloguing a Hive of Horrors Volume 12

Just kicking off a plog on my go-to, last bastion of hope for forums, B&C.

While it isn't directly inline with the old 'marine only' vibes I feel like its probably acceptable in this day and age!

Anyway, with the drop of Hive Secondus the willpower to avoid Necromunda finally gave in, between the Spyrer Orrus Suit as well as the Malstrain Genestealers, I was knackered.

With that in mind, I've started brow-beating my local hobby group into making up a Necromunda campaign, it will most probably be in a few months time, with a full campaign condensed into a boys weekend of beverages, dice and Memorable Deaths (hopefully only for the models).

I've been very torn on which warband to create between Ordo Xenos (sent in to investigate what is actually going on) or the Malstrain (which are just so damn cool!), so I've opted for both and will see which is more fun to play and cool to run with for the weekend.

The Malstrain gang will, depending on what the book of desolation rules look like, either be a Genestealer-Infected Delaque gang (as I just love those, bald, trenchcoat wearing, Dark City Vibing nut jobs) or a 'pure' Malstrain gang. Both/either will be leaning heavily into gross, body horror elements which I feel are very setting for GSC in normal circumstances, but are even more thorough within the Malstrain Vibes.

For the Ordo Xenos, I'm most probably looking at the running an Orrus suit as an Ordo Xenos inquisitor in some archeo-tech armature, and will be using the absolutely fantastic Inquisitorial agents as a starting point for the rest of their posse. These guys I'm probably, going to lean too much on the old 54mm inquisitor  vibes, but it should be fun! Maybe even some kroot mercs involved etc, so this crew will be less body horror obviously, but a fun little smorgasboard of hobby options!

The above picture was me just playing with some body horror/disgusting vibes from the AOS skaven rat-mount thing, still needs some more grossification, but you can see the basic vibes of it!

Anyway, hope you enjoy and I'll keep chuck stuff up on the plog as I build it!

Oh, what a gribbly beastie! You're definitely off to a good start with it

I do like your idea for the campaign, and both gang ideas sound great.

Yeah, your concept (well, both of them) sound great and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with them.

Would you be fielding the inquisition force using the outcasts rules, or something else?

Thanks mate, going to start rattling out some trial G-laque gangers soon!

Thanks! I was thinking of maybe using the Venators (I realise its quite outdated) as the base, allows me to pick up stuff like the Kroot Gun to give to the 'kroot' etc.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I said "outcasts" - I had forgotten their proper name.  Seems like a good fit for what you want to do.

Ok Gang,

Been having a little bit of a play around with the Orrus, awesome bit of kit, legitimately a fantastic little model, but obviously a bit limited in posing!

Anyway, being a fool and starting with the cool models forst, I've started the radical leaning Ordo Xenos Inquisitor.

I figure if a planetary governor can get a hold of some weird xenos combat suite, why couldn't an inquisitor with the right connections.

Anyway, currently in the process of getting this guy sorted, trying to get a mix of imperial, xenos and unknown-xenos tech all in on him.

So, not going to lie, his silhouette really screams Witch Hunter Tyrus to me, which I don't hate! But hopefully you can see the mix of vibes.goijg on with the 'imperial' arms/helmet etc, with a tau pulse carbine, all standing out harshly against the smooth, flowing curves of the orrus suit.

1000015653.thumb.jpg.62e7cc6d743f51d51fea6d494e91b32e.jpg

Slightly different angle showing off the inquisitors head, which, to me at least, very much screams as a 0 :cuss:s given sort of dude, which I imagine most radical inquisitors are.

Anyway, will keep trucking along!

There is no greater joy than custom-building your own Inquisitor, is there? Great excuse to cut loose a little. And hey, who but an Inquisitor could get away with a power-armour codpiece!

He's great - definitely looks the part of a radical xenos inquisitor.

Not sure if he's glued yet - if not, he might look better with the head looking more in line with the gun (or the gun brought forward more in line with the gaze of the model) - as is, in the first picture its not clear exactly what he's doing and the model looks a bit "flat" (kind of like old one-piece metal sculpts, where things didn't project in front or behind the model).

The cod piece is soemthing else isn't it haha!

Nice work. The pulse rifle is a bit ... heretical ... but I doubt many would bring it up with them

I figure this guy is probably right on the edges of being a radical, if not already. His posse will include at least a kroot. I'm tempted to give the inquisitor a Kroot Bird (or a sheen bird/grabble hawk) as an excotic beast sort of deal.

Heya, yeah all of it is blue tacked so far mate, currently in the process of seeing if I can walk that arm and hand around a bit more to line the pulse carbine up with where he is looking, its jsut the orrus shoulder pads are hugely restricitve on front army movements haha.

Ok, I've done some more work on Inquisitor Ingmar Semerikov, just finalised his major details and will now need to go back, tidy stuff up and add little bits and pieces like some daggers/side arm, purity seals etc.

1000015756.thumb.jpg.d18451c385c53a72dd75a7cc88a1261e.jpg

Hard to see from here, but moved the crotch pistons off of his massive cod piece, back into the leg assembly to make the tabard installation a bit easier.

Just a side shot, the cloak needs a bit of a neaten, as does all the back bric-a-brac (I see you mold lines!) but they where slammed on there quickly in a partial panic while the cloak was still malleable.

1000015758.thumb.jpg.261df35d54e1ae78fa34e2e202d7af3e.jpg

Just chucked a heap of gear on his back which I feel has the ability to read as the Spyrer 'upgrade' rules, also figured if he is spelunking into hive secundus, he'd bring all of his best kit with him,

1000015759.thumb.jpg.5a6831615651a4b600877dc9931917a2.jpg

Had to replace the orginal power claws as they where just a bit wonky and crap, will require a quick neaten of the new ones though.

Just another front shot from a different angle, shows better the rejiggin of the crotch reason... so much crotch focus on this model for some reason...

  • 2 weeks later...

Heya gang, bit quiet on here, got a commission reaching deadline so need to get that squared away, but I've finalised the build of old mate Inquisitor Ingmar Semerikov and have made some starts on the rest of his warband (pics coming), but final pre-paint WIP of the big bad boy and a slight spiel.

Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Ingmar Semerikov, known by the puritans of his Ordo as a heretical miscreant. Semerikov holds no quibbles in using unholy and outlawed xenos weaponry and technologies, not to mention readily entering into pairs with even the most despicable of alien species.

Semerikov is pictured here before his foray into the Hive Secundus exclusion zone to begin his hunt for the rumoured Malstrain Patriarch. He is semi-permanently integrated into battle armour that is believed to be of Diasporax origin. Notably in this instance he is making use of a T'au pulse weapon, while brandishing his sword of office. To assist him with general tasks as well as in combat, he is followed by a servo skull that seems to be built around the skull of a Tyranid organism. Stowed on his back is all manner Of heretical xenos weaponry and equipment, no doubt to assists of his plunging of the depths of the underhells.

So a bit of a change up prior to his last image, found the amazing sword from Hector Rex rattling around in my bitz box so promptly magnetised that onto his right arm, outside of that I've just mainly tidied up things and added a little bit more bric-a-brac. I also opted to creally make his base look like some destroyed ZM stuff, as I find the Secundus models weird, standing on all bits of refuse....that is just sitting on top of perfectly normal bases.

Added the little helper servo-skull to him, as suggested by some peeps, to help with the suspension of disbelief on how he would get different weapons drawn. Based it on a Termagant skull to lean back into the radical ordo xenos vibes.

Showing the servo skull hanging on to the splinter rifle in preparation for the inquisitor needing a weapon swap out.

Gratuitous backs shot showing off extra gear, books, and maybe some form of necontyr shilding.

image.thumb.jpeg.85e771179e90d68599795a22e86858a1.jpeg

Just a nice 'stance'shot, I feel the level of arrogance about this guy is off the charts haha.

image.thumb.jpeg.425b65aa1eed0fafac9788eda5a7be6e.jpeg

Final bit of the magnetised claw so I can swap out between the Orrus Power Claws (sword) and Power Fist (Power Fist/Claw).

Anyway, hope you guys have enjoyed watching the build as uch as I've enjoyed doing it, was great just sort of 'over doing' a single model as a bit of a change of pace from just 'army churn'.

That's a very cool looking inquisitor. I like his... Eclectic gear

Thanks mate, yeah figured he has opted to rock everything including the kitchen sink.

Would he really be an Inquisitor if he wasn't a towering pyre of arrogance? Incredible work on this guy, and very glad you've kept the codpiece.

The codpiece is integral.

Here we have Companion Tibalt Verrio of the much vaunted Lucifer Blacks. With him is is heavily augmented and armoured Cyber-Mastiff ‘Corso’.

Wanted to do a big of work on the ‘filler’ cast of the gang, but what started off as a support indentured-guardsman archetype started to evolve into a champion level character. Both models are still heavily WiP, but I've got the 3d printed helmet foe old mate Tibalts head, with a press  of the flak armour from the naval breachers kit. Shield is from Hector Rex and finally the splinter rifle is there just to reinforce this guy is a Henchman in a radical Ordo Xenos warband.

Next up is the pooch, Corso. I think the Orlock Cyber Mastiffs may be the pinnacle of heavily cybernetic Mastiffs GW has released (the limited edition one with the enforcer is amazing, but isnt as aggressively augmented). I really like the ‘tech’ head one and used it on the Tattered Princes base many moons ago. I've opted to up armour this one to try aNd have it match its master. Still needs some extra straps and gubbinz added but you get the point!

Finally a shot of the 'warband' as it stands, makes you realise how big an orrus suit really is (even factoring him being on a higher base!).

Thanks mate! Oh 100% that rediculous codpiece isn't going anywhere, and concerningly...it looks like its gonna be eye-level for most models...
