I might break my no WH+ streak for this. That genuinely got me a bit excited and I'm looking forward to seeing people's reaction next week. It's nice to see Sisters of Silence getting more love

That being said, like @mecanojavi99 said the description feels a bit dated?

Guilliman brought the organization back and without going into spoilers about Watchers of the Throne: The Regents Shadow, even with the hiccups they suffered there with the events on Luna they still are more of an official organization than they were, accompany the Crusade Fleets, going with the Custodes, etc, while still fulfilling the role of gathering Psykers for the Throne

While they still aren't common, this "They’re no longer a formalised order in their own right" from the article just seems flat-out wrong. Or like someone isn't up to date on books from over 4 years ago

Yeah it does feel like some Chinese whispers in the fluff there, let alone what "rare" even means when the Anathema ran the black ships network in 30k meaning there were probably millions of them all told, far more than any given space marine legion, albeit fairly busy :D

Yeah, not only did Guilliman formalize their position within the Imperium, but the call to bring them back to Terra from their scattered locations actually pre-dated Guilliman's return. It was the Custodes - acting on what they believed the Emperor's wishes to be ("He calls his daughters home") - who had already started the process of contacting them and bringing them back into the fold. Aleya and her initial cohort from The Emperor's Legion showed up to take part in the big battle against the Chaos incursion before any of them had a clue that Roboute was back.

Yeah, I re-read my post, and it focused only on negative stuff. I too can't wait to watch this, and I'm very excited about BSL.

Being Canadian, we use ASL on this side of the pond... And I'm passingly familiar with the sign language of one of our local Indigenous communities as well. Very excited about this. I haven't watched the first episode yet, so I can watch them back to back when this drops next week.

Way to go Gee Dubs! Attention to the neglected!

Watched the first episode. Loved it.

It's not breaking the boundaries of storytelling or anything, neither did the first part. It's just good, solid, fairly standard fare 40k storytelling.

Competent. Looks good. Cool action scenes.

Which is all I ever wanted. Imagine the ultramarine movie but in this style. Would absolutely have gotten this on a bluray or something once its all out. Don't want a subscription to be able to access it (though the models is pretty much why I do have access)

Question for those who watched, do you think the portrayal/implementation was any good?

Tyrith Shiva Kyrus (the first three of a long list of honorific names earned fighting for the Emperor) has the privilege of being our first portrayal of a female Custodian Guard since the recent revelation that Custodians can be any gender. This fact came as a real surprise to many, since it wasn’t something previously explored. That, in and of itself, isn’t a particularly unusual thing for Warhammer 40,000 and its lore; there are simply loads of things the Warhammer Studios have never expressly stated, whether that’s ruling them in or out.

...and the gaslighting continues.

"Never expressly stated."

Except it WAS. More than once.

They know that.

They're lying.

We know the original custodes were sons, but unlike space marines there wasn't anything that said they had to be, nor that they were.

...except repeated statements to the contrary. Actual statements of fact, not supposition by characters.

Yeah its definite gas lighting.  Not sure why they can't just say they decided to retcon something.  Much better saying that than all this 'actually this was always there' ploy, followed by unending convoluted attempts by people who support the retcon to make 2+2 = 5 on behalf of the GW studio!

There are FOUR lights!

So if it's printed in a codex and in an animation (both mediums that take a long time to create) we can finally put to bed the "Rogue Intern" garbo. I'm very glad

I suppose by the same logic, there is also new statements of fact? Custodes are men and women, taken as infant sons and daughters. They're still taken as Infant sons? (I laugh reacted your earlier comment as I thought it was a joke which I now see wasn't, apologies for that)

I've enjoyed the Tithes episodes so far, it's not felt overly hammy and the 'nid animation in this episode actually looked pretty great. The Custode and SoS get a good showing in this and the proportions didn't entirely throw me like some previous animations. The Black Ships were suitable morbid too

"there are simply loads of things the Warhammer Studios have never expressly stated, whether that’s ruling them in or out."

Maybe it's because I only slept 3 hours

Maybe it's because I haven't had caffeine yet today

Maybe it's because my hill workout this morning hurt my ego

But that line really irritates me more than it should honestly

"We NeVeR sAiD iT"

Even though it has been stated. But what do I expect from the same company, in the preview article for this, put out lore that was out of date 4+ years ago

Just call it a retcon when you change things. Don't gaslight people in the typical marketing speak

I've just cancelled my subscription, but it's trickling on 'til the ninth, so will watch this as a last hurrah, as it looks cool from the snippet on WarCom.

The most interesting bit for me was this:

The character you see with the hat reminiscent of a 19th Century divers helmet is an administrator for the League of Black Ships. Think shepherds for the many psykers awaiting a ride to Terra. It’s the first time we’ve seen characters from this galaxy-spanning organisation before.

Always nice to see some new area of the setting explored. Given their crossover in duties, perhaps this administrator is something we might see in a Sisters of Silence Kill Team (or addition to the Talons army) in the future?

Hopefully the mods don't just lock the whole thread because one or two people can't get over the fact that something they personally don't like is canon.

There's still another episode to go after all.
