100% N00b Tyranid player questions ...

Hi all.

 

1. Does GW make data cards for Tyranids?!?! I've looked all around to no avail. Odd?

 

2. What is tbe best detachment to run with the Tyranids that come with the Leviathan boxed set?

 

3. Can you pros make suggestions on what units to get if I'm playing with what comes with the Leviathan boxed set, in terms of a 1k list and my opponents are mostly space marines? Doesn't have to be a tournament level list or anything, but something that has units that make sense to play versus space marines (who most of my friends play).

Only thing I can really comment on is this point.

Your Winged Tyranid Prime can lead Gargoyles and the 2 kinds of Warriors. Against Space Marines you probably want them to lead Warriors, so go for those (choose the Melee or Ranged unit build based on what your local meta plays. "Space Marines" can mean many different playstyles even before branching out into Divergent Chapters.)

Yeah I've been in this hobby since 2013 and I've never even played against Tyranids lol. I posted these questions for a good friend who just started into the hobby with the Tyranid half of the Leviathan box. We are both absolutely clueless, and I'm sorta being his 40k Sherpa.

 

His meta, aka our meta lol, are Ultramarines, Black Temlars, Custodes, Dark Angels, and maybe Ad Mech if my friend ever takes them out of the box and builds them?

1. They did, but much like ther other sets, GW only did a single print run. They might come back, but doubt it.

 

2. Invasion Fleet is a good genral detachment and with what is in the starter that would be the better one to start on. Once you get more units you can build towards one of the other detachments that catches your eye. 

 

3. So the Leviathan box (if they have the launch version) only has 705 points of nids. So to get to 1K they're going to have to get more units. This gives them something to put the prime and neurotyrant in. If your willing to split a box, the starter set is a really good deal. After that he'll need two more units, warriors and zonathropes. 

Also don NOT buy the combat patrol, it's a trap. You can get the starter set and a box of barbguants (the contains of the CP) for $9 less then the cost of the CP and you get the marines for basically free.
