One of the things I've been running into are the rules regarding marshals vs captains, and castellans vs lieutenants. For example I like to run my marshal with my company heroes, but as per BT rules company heroes is not listed as a unit that marshals can lead, so I have to run my marshal as a space marine captain in those situations. Does that really affect anything else at that point, such as my Righteous Crusaders detachment, which is the detachment I always use.

Also with load outs. I have two versions of my marshal, one with master-crafted power sword + plasma pistol (BT rules legit) and one with powerfist + plasma pistol, which is not BT rules legit for a marshal. I have to run him as a space marine captain in that version.

Sorta similar with castellans and space marine lieutenants. I have two castellans built and painted, but one is not legit as per the BT rules because he has a plasma pistol, so when I run him he is by the rules a space marine lieutenant.

At the end of the day Marshals and Castellans have the same unit abilities as their space marine peers, captains and lieutenants. lol. So its a fairly interchangeable thing?

Is there anything I have to watch out for that maybe I'm missing, or overlooking?

Thanks.

Marshals are captains; check their keywords on the app, one is Captain.

So they can slot into Company Heroes no problem.

A powerfist IS a powerweapon, so that's kinda fudge-able in the current rules where things have broader meanings as far as your second marshal being out of spec.

That being said, since there's not much of a difference, I wouldn't be mad for you using the weapon stats for one for the other.  Like the LT gear on your Castellan, or captain gear on Marshall.  There's really no difference between the datasheets from what I can see besides wargear.  In the BT Supplement that'll eventually come out, I'm sure you'll be reigned in to no LT's and No Captains, but for now, have at it!

Probably wouldn't fly at a tournament, but in a friendly game I don't see the issue.

Unless you're playing in a tournament, or practicing for one, then there's really no need to be anal about the distinction between functionally identical units with slightly different wargear. The rules are a starting point from which you can make your own fun, not some inviolable law.

I love combi-weapons, still do but ... I will be eagerly awaiting a rules change for them ;) ... hence why I saved all of my sternguard kit extra bits lol. The new one comes with 6 combi weapons, 2 each of flamer, melta, and plasma. 0 grav unfortunately.

My old sternguard are all on magnets.  I'm glad I can run them all with bolters and heavy bolter.

To answer to your question, I don't think we will? They are all too close in comparison to really matter. If GW, however, did do that in a future edition, well I'd say the bigger fish are not getting fried on their part.
