That's art. There's even art of him with a sword as a chapter master and it's the same as the previous art.

Not only is his armor described as well maintained, but also less adorned than the Sanguinary guard, besides his pauldrons, also in Fear to Tread. Pretty funny considering the convos being had lol

I haven't read FtR since pre covid, might be time to do a reread for me!

I was really looking forward to a big reveal, with the hope that the Sanguinor would be equal in size and statue to Guilleman.

Making him the size of a regular marine and not in a dynamic pose such as Astorath took pretty much all of the sails out any desire to revisit my CBs.

It's definitely a big time agreement to the gut punch feeling seeing these iconic miniatures get such a weak attempt at remaking them. They literally could have just made the captain helmet the option foe Sanguinary Guard and it wouldn't look like so much cow dung.

Very disappointed in the team that thought we wanted more models like the inquisitor or stormcast...

All thst being said, I'm stuck with 30k for now.

Apparently valrak said something about an angelic model surrounded by cherubs coming for us once a while ago and then never again lol.

so there’s still hope for our big center piece model to come still.

Now I'll preface this by saying that I'll happily eat crow if I'm wrong and I hope I am, but no way we get anything else model wise. Blood Angels become outright character bloated if a new one is introduced without the death of an old one. Which is another reason why GW failed with this release. Lemartes wasn't killed off, and Tycho was replaced by a generic Captain. One or the other had to happen if we wanted a new character. The new captain is a pretty decent model, but it doesn't do anything new for us lore wise. Instead, Corbulo will live but just lose model support because GW is too scared to either update him or kill him off (GW sculptor currently working on him for 11th Ed., I hope you chuckled). Yet another wasted opportunity.

A death of an old one…you mean like Tycho?

I agree in this edition, we wont get anything else.

in 11th we might get:

  • Corbulo
  • Seth
  • Karlean
  • Actual Death Company unit
  • Actual vehicle replacement

Realistically, we will get at least one of those, because there's always a model with a codex release.

I could see them theming the 11th update around Flesh Tearers and giving us Seth and a new Death Comapny kit personally.

Karlaen/generic BA termie captain seems likely considering that 11th is shaping up to be the assault terminator update era and they'll want to update the old BA assault termie kit. I think you're right about Seth and I hope you're right about a new Corbulo/DC/Dread/Vehicle kit but I'm not holding my breath. My money is on another upgrade sprue with all of the power fists/ thunder hammers/helmets/shoulder pads/ornaments we need that should've just been a part of the original kit.

Can't say I mind the rules...

"As the absolute cream of the crop, the new Sanguinary Guard come in units of three to six, though their durability has been improved with an extra Wound and a new 4+ Invulnerable Save to compensate for smaller unit sizes.

In the thick of melee they cleave through foes with crackling encarmine blades, and now they can puncture the toughest opponents on the charge with new encarmine spears, which sport the [LANCE] rule."

Data sheets look solid too.

So I am not a fan of the verbiage but this seems really decent. Also, does "each time an enemy unit has shot" imply this triggers for every enemy unit that happens to target and hit the Red Thirst unit? So like if Squad A shoots at the SG it triggers then if Squad B also shoots at the SG it moves another 6"? That seems super OP.

Seeing more pictures on the Warhammer Community pages, I'm more worried we won't get extra separate decorations in the Sanguinary Guard kit.

They really do all look too similar in a group of 6. The model that has the Blood Drop icon hanging off the belt looks like it's part of that model and not a separate peice that can be put in different places, as it's in exactly the same place on the matching model.

The model with the power sword pointing in the air is photoshopped on this image and is the same model twice.

In the second picture there is this same model with the tabard painted red. But they use the same shoulder pad with a purity seal on and arms in a similar position, making it look like the same model again.

It literally says only once per phase.

so at best once in their shooting phase, once in your movement phase, and once in your charge phase, if your opponent shoots that unit with overwatch.

That’s what the upgrade sprue is for.

My brain skipped that part, I guess. Lends credence to my comment about not liking the verbiage, yes? "Do not attribute malice etc. etc. etc."

I don’t see anything wrong with the verbiage, any verbiage they choose can result in someone misreading it or completely missing a sentence or part of a sentence.

our brains tend to show us what we’re looking for, and tbh i think we’re all always looking for GW to release rules that are broken one way or another so it’s highly likely for our brains to ignore or misinterpret a previewed rule.
