Mechanicum List building support.

Hi all. Hope it is okay to ask for list support here.

At the moment I currently have the following models :
Scoria, Draykavac, 2 Magos Dominus, 12 thallax with lightning guns, 2 thallax with photon thrusters, 31 tech thralls with las locks, 6 castellax with darkfire cannons, 3 thanatar calix's and 1 thanatar cavas. 

my initial idea with this army was to have Scoria leading with a load of castellax (14), however, I soon gave up the idea after being pummeled consistently.
After that, I created a bit of a monster list with Draykavac as leader with thallax, thanatar calix's and a knights contingent using a porphyrin and 2 armigers.

My problem is that I know I get over-fixated on my list creations and struggle to find nice lists to use against my friends,
previously I was the one who created the 50-strong rampager army with Angron against my iron warriors friend. And I still feel very bad because of it.

Any suggestions on how to create a fun but not "overtly" stupid list would be very grateful, additionally any insight as to what squads I should be getting (as I do know I hyper fixate on some squads and rely on them too much, rather than branching out to create a fun list.)

I'm a build and paint kinda guy, not a player and only build lists to give me a "finish line" so I might not be the right person to help but maybe just self imposed a limit of 2 of any particular unit in the army.

You've got plenty of model variety so you should come out ok.

And include the tech thralls. From what I understand they aren't the best unit so they might help balance if you overdo something else.
