mini_painting_mike
Hi all. With access to adult money with which to buy all the Warhammer that we dreamed of as children, occasionally comes the boring adult-ing of bills and financial planning. Whilst doing such adulting *shudder* yesterday morning I discovered that somehow for the last year-and-a-half I had been paying a monthly subscription to audible I had no idea was going out of my bank account. Having promptly cancelled it, I then received an email this morning to tell me that I had 4 weeks to use all of my audible 'credits' I had built up during this time, or lose them forever! Each 'credit' buys me one 'audible' audio book. So... I have 4 weeks to select 18 audio books. Any recommendations? Thinking primarily Warhammer fiction, but also happen to listen to other similar fantasy and sci-fi fiction too. Roomsky
There's a lot of quality audiobooks for 40k - so many it's hard to know where to start. Have you read/listened to Abnett's Inquisition work, or ADB's Night Lords Trilogy? Those are popular works to dip your toe in - but if you're a more seasoned reader, let me/us know what you've already read. aa.logan
If you *must* spend them and listen within a short spell, I’d very strongly recommend some audio dramas- Dredge Runners, all of the horror ones and Titan’s Bane in particular. You don’t get much listening time per credit but they are great fun Edited August 14 by aa.logan Roomsky and DarkChaplain 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383474-in-desperate-need-of-audible-recommendations-18-credits-to-use-or-lose-in-4-weeks/#findComment-6056436 Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
In no particular order (I've listened to all of them): 40K: Brothers of the Snake Cadian Blood Helsreach Titanicus Ghazghkull Thraka: Prophet Waagh! Warhammer Horror: Watcher in the Rain The Bookkeeper's Skull Warhammer Crime: Grim Repast The Wraithbone Phoenix The Vorbis Conspiracy Dredge Runners Flesh and Steel Bloodlines Series: Gaunt's Ghosts (read, not listened to) Eisenhorn, Ravenor, and Bequin Ciaphas Cain Night Lords I also enjoyed the Gotrek and Felix books, but they're not board-appropriate. If you *must* spend them and listen within a short spell I think it's just spend. When you cancel your Audible subscription, I believe you retain access to the books you've bought. Rob P
They 2 for 1 every few weeks. It might be worth waiting to see if that arises before the deadline. They usually have a good few warhammer books in these deals. WAR
Do you have the Sisters of Battle books? Faith & Fire, Red & Black, The Book of Martyrs, The Rose at War, Pilgrams of Fire, Hammer and Anvil, Broken Saints, Ephreal Stern: Heretic Saint, Mark of Faith, Celestine: The Living Saint, Our Martyred Lady. Double Eagle is one of my favorites. Ubiquitous1984
You can’t go wrong with the complete Abnett Inquisition collection. That’s nine so far I believe, all read by the great Toby Longworth. malika666 and Firedrake Cordova 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383474-in-desperate-need-of-audible-recommendations-18-credits-to-use-or-lose-in-4-weeks/#findComment-6056695 Share on other sites

Thinking primarily Warhammer fiction, but also happen to listen to other similar fantasy and sci-fi fiction too. The first couple books of the HH series, and all the various collections. There are about a dozen, maybe more, collections of short stories that are quite good value for money. LemartestheLost
Dante, The Devastation of Baal, and Darkness in the Blood by Guy Haley are also excellent, as is Apocalypse by Josh Reynolds and Assassinorum: Kingmaker by Robert Rath. Remain_Indoors
Grab all the Ciaphas Cain audiobooks. They’re excellent novels and also probably the best narrated. darkhorse0607
The Infinite and the Divine is excellent in regards to the narration if you haven't listened to it already (also in addition to the rest of the suggestions) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383474-in-desperate-need-of-audible-recommendations-18-credits-to-use-or-lose-in-4-weeks/#findComment-6056827 Share on other sites
