slitth
I not sure that it the right place to poste this, but I wondered if you could paint a model and put it in snow globe. But how would one make the paint last? Any suggestion on what paint one should use? Solution Brother Casman Posted August 15, 2024 Solution Share Posted August 15, 2024 I would guess that you could use any paint, but you'll need a waterproof sealing coat over top of the model. NovemberIX
I though snow globes used some sorta oil mix? I coulda sworn I remember it feeling like baby oil when I broke one. that being said, a neutral enough liquid and a strong enough sealant should be fine. Sky Potato
I vaguely remember the Warhammer YouTube channel doing something along these lines a few years ago Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383488-homemade-warhammer-40k-snow-globe/#findComment-6056994 Share on other sites
Brother Tyler
TIL that snow globes are usually filled with water, and sometimes with a little bit of antifreeze. At least, that's what the Internet tells me. In that vein, the waterproof seal suggestion seems appropriate (lots of whatever you use). And I really hope to see pictures of your finished snow globe, @slitth. Note: I moved this to the Forge. Firedrake Cordova
Can't say I can help beyond finding a couple of videos on YouTube and an old thread here. Sounds like a good project though Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383488-homemade-warhammer-40k-snow-globe/#findComment-6057073 Share on other sites
Sky Potato
I vaguely remember the Warhammer YouTube channel doing something along these lines a few years ago Found it - Sadly, not helpful to you - it was for baubles not snow globes. grailkeeper
I used to work in a shop that sold snow globes. They just used water and could be refilled if they leaked. They also broke a lot. You might want to pin the model rather than glue to help it survive more vigorous shakes. The snow globes also had a little bit of glitter to catch the light. grailkeeper
Was just thinking. If you put red glitter in it might looks like a blood effect. Could be cool depending on what you are going for. Could use other colours for magic or something. Otherwise I'd say silver would eb the default.
