If its based on computer games, any chance the Tau creature is Shaso La'Kais?

GW is only getting one and that is the SM2 one. So that tau looking creature is from another series. Will have to look into which games they are doing to figure out where that thing is from.

edit: Here's the list of what the episodes are from, I want to say the Tau creature is Oddworld (PS?) but the frak Crossfire getting a full ep what?

● Armored Core
● Concord
● Crossfire
● Dungeons & Dragons
● Exodus
● Honor of Kings
● Mega Man
● New World: Aeternum
● PAC-MAN
● PlayStation (Highlighting various PlayStation Studios beloved entities)
● Sifu
● Spelunky
● The Outer Worlds
● Unreal Tournament
● Warhammer 40,000

Each episode of Secret Level taps into worlds from beloved gaming classics and new titles. Here is a list of games who inspired the 15 stories in Season 1:

● Armored Core
● Concord
● Crossfire
● Dungeons & Dragons
● Exodus
● Honor of Kings
● Mega Man
● New World: Aeternum
● PAC-MAN
● PlayStation (Highlighting various PlayStation Studios beloved entities)

● Warhammer 40,000

I recognise some of the games, though it is only 3 or 4, looking forward to the full list. The w40k specific one looks fantastic on saying that but one question remains. Was SM2 included because of the Amazon/GW deal or was that what the animators wanted independently of the deal?

Independent of the deal. Blur are responsible for doing the cinematics for Space Marine II. Some of their other projects include;

  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
  • Halo Wars
  • Prototype
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Batman: Arkham Origins
  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Halo 2 Anniversary
  • Halo Wars 2
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic
  • Elder Scrolls Online
  • League of Legends
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron movie
  • Sonic the Hedgehog movie trilogy
  • Love, Death & Robots
  • Gears of War: E-Day

Looking at that list, I'm pretty excited about the rest of the episodes, Armoured Core? Sign me up for a full show of that!

Lot of varied projects there.

Yep, Blur has legitimate pedigree and chops. Their work on Love, Death & Robots alone should get everyone on board.  That one with the Conquistadors and the lake lady is seriously good, and the Zombie invasion one is also stellar.  I also really liked the giant crab and pirate ship one.

Even ten years later, their cutscenes for Halo 2 Anniversary remain some of the best i've ever seen.

I'm intrigued but hard to say at the moment based on what we are seeing. One thing I did notice is it looks like they are keeping with the long established GW tradition of sticking Tzaangors in absolutely any product with the slightest hint of Tzeentch.

Turns out the Tzaangors have been the ones pulling the strings all along! So tricky, even the game designers thought it was Tzeentch. Wheels within wheels, man! Wheels within wheels.

This new Prime series looks pretty cool, and they are using some iconic game IPs for some of the episodes.

I just hope that this one-off episode isn't the extent of Amazon's commitment to the 40k IP.

As told to me, it's independent of the bigger amazon/GW deal

Come on, don't be ridiculous! Tzeentch has always been one trillion Tzaangors in an ever-shifting trench coat.

Part of me feels an animated series would be better than live action in this universe. It’s much easier to animate an Astartes than it is to make it look convincing in real life, often times they just look clunky and walk like they’ve got a permanent wedgie. Just look at the Power Armor in Fallout.

Yikes: I completely misinterpreted the warcom article; I thought the whole series was 40k games. It would have meant we'd get to see more than marines.

But there's only one 40k empisode, so Marines, Marines, Marines... Surprise! MAARRRIIIIINNNES!

I take it back. I will watch none of these. D&D animation has already been done better and more immersively with two full seasons of the Critical Role cartoon. Old Republic might be worth a watch. Love Death and Robots was awesome, but I don't know whether there wil be a new episode(s), and I've already seen the existing ones many, many times.

I might watch Space Marine once? Or try? But they really aren't interesting to me unless they're part of a combined Imperial force. I watched Blood Angels on WH+ because the ship captain and genestealers were interesting. The marines themselves- pure ubiquitous bolter-porn trope. Who is the enemy in Space Marine 2? That might make it worth watching.

Agreed, that one will probably be cool. SWTOR animations have always been top notch. They should have just done more of that instead of live action shows.

It's made BY the studio behind Love Death and Robots, so it's pretty safe to say that it has nothing to do with LDR, which is a Netflix anthology series about random stories, whereas this is an Amazon Prime Video anthology series about Video Games.

They all look, so far, freaking awesome.  Armored Combat with what looks like Keanu Reeves?  :cuss: yes.

Blur Studios has an insane pedigree; all of these will be worth watching at least once, just for the spectacle.

If you think we will ever get a series or movie without Space Marines you’re even crazier than I am.

Tyranids are the initial enemy of SMII then things get...tzeentchy

Yeah, who am I fooling? I may sour-grapes a lot, but I'm probably going to watch all of it, and while I might have liked to see something more off the beaten path, I'm sure it'll be good. Just like I watched Blood Angels for the 'Stealers, I will watch this for Nids and Tzeentch.

I know that any mass market 40k product has to include marines, because they are a great hook for people just entering the hobby- it's where most of us start even if it's not where all of us end up. You just can't hold a grudge against marines, because it is true that the game can't exist without them. But I had hoped for a story about a mixed Solblade, you know? Many of those were mixed battlegroups, so you still get your marines, but they come with a side order of Sisters, Guard, Custodes, Mechanicus or Agents. The Pariah show was awesome BECAUSE it showcased the many faces of human and post-human. I loved that Salamander guy... But it never would have worked for me if the Sister and the Guard hadn't been there to provide contrast to the post-humanity of the marine.

I also have a thing for female protagonists, and you aren't getting one in a show called Space Marine, though the ship commander in Blood Angels was a nice touch to add depth to the allied forces.
