So I've been pretty hyped about the Vespids all day, but there is another topic for that.

The Aquillons are also super cool to me. kinda of wish they had fly as well but it's more like a grav chute I guess.

the sentry is very cool

the options we've seen all look good

and for once I really like the models. the tactical rocks look pretty good to me for a change.

I've seen some complaints for sure, but in this case, I don't see another too terribly wrong with them.

Super rare for a box to have 2 factions I really like but this one has done it. I don't collect either of these armies in 40k but darn do these guys look cool.

The only thing I can say that's negative is that I'm not 100% sold on the precursor's head sculpt. It's not bad, but it doesn't wow me. Apart from that, lovely. I guess I'm getting the new set them. I'll want the rules and the Aquilons to go with the Vespid so they have made this a solid purchase for me.

These guys are so cool. I want to know what their 40k rules will be.

I am interested if the carbine weapons will act differently to standard versions, it would be hard to replicate the real world impact of a carbine over a rifle of reduced accuracy over longer range but increased mobility

yeah, i might replace the head with another or just put them in a helmet which is what I normally do. heads are so hit and miss for me.

There's a good chance this unit's kit comes with the option for all helmets and all berets.
Hopefully also Berets plus Masks, which I think the Scions kit has, but that might be asking for too many heads.

Also for anyone disappointed that these aren't Elysian Drop Troops, the Grav-Chute pack looks like it will probably fit onto the current Infantry Squad troopers, so you could kitbash some decent looking Elysians that way.

For Kill team their gimmick is that they are going to be dropping at the start and then during the game.

One third deploys as normal, a second third deploys via deepstrike at the start of the game (presumably in their deployment zone or near it) and the remaining third deepstrikes on later turns around some 'blip' like tokens that are able to move down the board as the game continues but will slowly disappear as the game goes on.

The precursor's fancy ability is that she can drop into engagement range and either then or perhaps on a regular charge, will get to attack twice before the opponent gets to use their combat dice.

yeah I think you could just convert up some Elysian drop troops if you wanted. cool concept.

and yeah I agree, you'll probably get a lot of different head options.

Lovely models

Buuuut did we need a third guard faction kill team and 7th geq team.

There's multiple factions still without a non wd team which are presumably getting wiped out this edition.

fully fully agree that there are a lot of factions that need their own teams and sometimes it kinds hurts to get like double guard, double tau and double orks and so on. when something like Death Guard, just as a random example, doesn't have a bespoke team. that is tough for sure.

I don't know if any of the teams are getting axed, the rules seems like or they said they are mostly unchanged. so hopefully we don't lose any teams.

The existing Scions have come with Beret-heads and helmet options for all models, no reason to think this will be different. Mine will all be helmeted, like almost all the rest of my gloryboys and girls.

Love this box. I'm primarily interested in them for full 40k. Always thought a fly infantry was a niche sorely missing in the Codex and I'm hoping these fill that.

As for the Carbines, I expect maybe more shots at lower range, but no extra rapidfire.

The head kind of looks like Willem Dafoe. Otherwise those sculpts are great. They really did a good job at making these guys look like they are jumping around.

They seem pretty different from regular Blooded/Veteran style GEqs given the 4+ saves and smaller squad numbers.

Doesn't sound like anyone is getting removed either, might even find the remaining compendium list factions get a refresh to put them alongside everyone else if all the lists are getting rebalanced equipment options and perhaps Tac ops by the sound of it.

There's not really that much wrong with Deathguard when it comes to options (other than pox walkers not being balanced as a Fire team) or really even Tyranids for that matter.

Kaskrin dropped last year and share a similar design space. I'm half expecting inquisitorial storm troopers at this rate before any of the factions without a bespoke or upgrade frame kill team

I get wanting to have a wider range in Kill teams, I definitely don't think GW have embraced the concept anywhere near as far as they could do and have a laundry list of teams and box sets that could be amazing and cover the various factions whilst extending our entry into 40K lore (Chaos Daemons with a haunted house or ghost ship theme where you're deciding between taking the time out to disrupt the ritual or soldiering on through the madness and focusing on nothing but the mission, Imperial Argiworld labourers vs the first elements of a Tyranid seeding swarm, etc).

But Kasrkin and Aquillons are going to play completely differently and with wildly different mechanics (slowly creeping drop zone vs reliability when and where you need it). Probably as different as Arbites as another 8W 4+ save team with a sniper and a special weapon.

Tyranids and Deathguard also already have more options than some bespoke teams like Fellgor or Kommandos when it comes to both kitting out individual operatives and selecting meaningfully different teams.

Not that stuff doesn't need another look over (especially you poxwalkers and Grey Knights). But hopefully the grand reset will balance some things out when it comes to tac-ops and equipment.

I sure hope they have male head options, I can’t think of a recent female face that looks good in my opinion.

My favorite “recent” one was Moren Vahl’s “calm” face.

May be the painting because it looks really “stark”.

Or better yet, enough helmeted heads for all the minis.

Yeah, the precursor's knife has to be a reference to that book, right?

Anyway, great kit. Look forward to adding it to my pile of... what do they call it these days? Potential. That's it.

The daggers themselves have always been part of the Scion kit and are a reference to British commandos who were all issued a knife that looks exactly like these in ww2. Scions are very similar in terms of what they are supposed to do on the battlefield and the elite training.

I must agree though that a model in this kit holding one in exactly the same way as the rawne model when the designs are so similar and ghosts have a story of deploying by grav chute must be intentional as well.

Interestingly the tanith warknives are a reference to the Sharpe novels and the British rifle regiments from the Napoleonic era who didn't use standard bayonets but a longer version which was referred to as a sword which could be used as a knife without needing to fit it to a weapon, unlike standard bayonets of the time. More evidence that gaunt is 40k Sharpe lol
