Shoddy leaks on FB of questionable origin suggest all of our special dreads except DC, Tycho, and Corbulo are all gone.

i question the leaks because it lists DC marines, DC with bolt rifles, and DC with jump packs.

I guess the DC marines could be foot slogging AIs, but the terminology seems off too me.

oh yeah you can barely read parts of the pages leaked.

So, to sum this all up:

In Codex:

Astorath (New model)

Blood Angels Captain (New Kit)

Chief Librarian Mephiston (Same Model)

Commander Dante (Same kit)

Death Company Captain (Same kit as BA Captain)

Death Company Captain with Jump Pack (Uses Jump Captain kit, I guess. Why didn't we also get a Jump BA Captain???)

Lemartes (New model)

Sanguinary Priest (new Model)

The Sanguinor (New model)

Baal Predator (Same old Kit)

Death Company Dreadnaught (Either it's just a Brutalis Variation or it's a combined Brutalis, Ballistus and Redemptor Dread statblock with "set" loadout options)

Death Company Marines (Name changed, Assault Intercessors with the new Upgrade sprue, seemingly just Chainsword and Pistol now)

Death Company Marines with Bolt Rifles (Intercessors with the Upgrade Sprue. Split from DC Marines.)

Death Company Marines with Jump Packs (Primaris'd, they're now JPAI with the same upgrade sprue as the others)

Sanguinary Guard (New kit, Wings gone)

Removed:

Brother Corbulo (Similar bitz in new Sangy Priest, no replacement)

Captain Tycho (Similar bitz in new Captain, replaced by BA Captain)

Gabriel Seth (No replacement)

Sanguinary Priest with Jump Pack gone (No replacement)

Tycho the Lost (Similar bitz in new Captain, DC Captain)

(Old) Death Company Dreadnaught (DC Dread replaced by new one)

(Old) Death Company Marines (Firstborn Model, Replaced by existing Primaris unit(s) in the Supplement)

(Old) Death Company Marines with Jump Packs (Replaced by new DC Jump Marines using JPAI models with the Upgrade Sprue)

Furioso Dreadnaught (No replacement in the Supplement, but the Brutalis Dread is basically a Primaris Furioso anyway...)

Librarian Dreadnaught (No replacement)

(ETA: I've put "with Bolt Rifles" for the new unexpected DC unit rather than "with Bolt Pistols and Chainswords" because I think that name is way to long and the "Death Company Intercessors" shown on WarComm are Assault Intercessors which I think is most people's default assumption on what a DC marine is supposed to be carrying in a fight.)

Damn those DC loadout rules are weird.

Glad you could read it, hurt my eyes trying to read that

  • For every 5 models in this unit, 1 model's Heavy Bolt Pistol can be replaced with 1 Plasma Pistol
  • For every 5 models in this unit, 1 model's Astartes Chainsword can be replaced with 1 Eviscerator
  • 1 model's Astartes Chainsword can be replaced with one of the following:
    • 1 Power Fist
    • 1 Power Weapon
  • For every 5 models in this unit. 1 model's Heavy Bolt Pistol and Astartes Chainsword can be replaced with one of the following:
    • 1 Hand Flamer and 1 Astartes Chainsword
    • 1 Hand Flamer and 1 Power Fist
    • 1 Hand Flamer and 1 Power Weapon
    • 1 Heavy Bolt Pistol and 1 Power Fist
    • 1 Heavy Bolt Pistol and 1 Power Weapon
    • 1 Inferno Pistol and 1 Astartes Chainsword
    • 1 Inferno Pistol and 1 Power Fist
    • 1 Inferno Pistol and 1 Power Weapon
    • 1 Plasma Pistol and 1 Astartes Chainsword
    • 1 Plasma Pistol and 1 Power Fist
    • 1 Plasma Pistol and 1 Power Weapon

So yeah, can confirm they are weird.

Those are better options than I thought they would get.  2 fists, plasma pistols and an eviscerator per 5 looks ok.

It's a reasonable loadout, it's just worded very weirdly.

Presumably because the DC JPAI's don't have a Sargent in the unit.

They’re weird yeah, but only because of the weird way they do loadouts now. They’re trying to hit a sweet spot between the old FBDC options and new primaris style options.

so more goodies than a typical primaris unit, but not every model in the unit can be dressed to the 9s

Aren’t they a straight upgrade on his current ones?

Not sure, but I’m not particularly impressed with Dante’s current rules either lol

edit

went back to the app and they look more or less the same to me.

Rule wise it’s the same but with the bonus on advance as well as charge now and weapon got a small boost to strength, he’s otherwise unchanged. Dante is fine, I’d have liked him to give CP but he works fine as a more lead from the front fighting character (think he must be one of the strongest in terms of straight damage potential? Especially with the sons of sanguinius/liberators bonus)

The loss of corbulo and Seth sucks, I wonder if there will be reasons for either? Killing one or both of them off feels unlikely… Will either even get a mention in the codex?

I'd wager Seth is gone because he's simply not an actual Blood Angel (but will probably me mentioned in the Codex Supplement)

Corbulo is gone because he's a Metal mini (or Resin. Either way, old.).

FB has leaks of all the enhancements and strats, and I think the DC detachment has some strong strats.

over all I think all have good strat support.

for LAG I think GoF is the best enhancement, as it’s 1 of 2 that aren’t once per battle, and it’s the only 1 of those 2 that’s not very situational.

Point costs printed on paper version don't have any use though. GW website would announce the "real" cost values the launch week.

I feel like 50ppm isn’t that bad considering the potential synergies with other units and the SG detachment, and the LAG detachment, not to mention the firestorm detachment.

I feel like 50ppm is too high. That means a 6-man squad will cost about the same as an old 10-man squad. The 6-man squad has 18 wounds compared to 20 of the old but the 4++ makes them slightly more durable. However in terms of offensive output, they are a lot lower as they still have the same number of attacks. While their weapons got a buff, they will still kill 40% fewer MEQs than their old incarnation.

The old Sanguinary Guard were not exactly a regular fixture in competitive lists so at 300 points, the new squad would be a downgrade on what was available previously. I think SG need to be 45ppm maximum and probably closer to 40ppm to be competitive.

As others have said though, hopefully there will be a Day 1 price patch. Also DA Deathwing Knights got a substantial buff about 3 months after release so I remain hopeful that this is not the final word on SG.

Sanguinor is still stupid ridiculous. There's Heroic Intervention and then there's this OP nonsense. He better be 200+ points.

Printed, he is 140 points but that will possibly change when the Codex goes live properly and the Field Manual is updated.
