What happened to regular red-armored units? Looks like all we get is black or gold armored units. Are the new BA all supposed to be crazed DC units?

Noone has mentioned this. So perhaps I am wrong. Do we have an option to use regular marine units as well?

I already went through my bitz to convert my old DC to match/proxy the new valid options. Hammers will be stand-ins vor eviscerators, everything else is supported by the old kit. Whilst I don't plan to run the DC detachment often, I think it will be fun to swarm the battlefield with crazed guys from time to time

I went through and harvested up all the First Born bits I can.  Anyone interested in an assortment of FB torso's, arms, and pistols?

I did a little knife work last night, I think with a little effort, you can make all the Heavy Bolt Pistols that your DC will be using out of the FBDC Bolters; they're roughly the same size (Which feels crazy), and if you cut off the banana clip, it just looks like a boxier ornate pistol.

Chainswords unfortunately don't get the same benefit; next to primaris Chainswords on the AI kit, the FB DC kit chain swords are like chain knives.  Might make a cool one off of a DC marine that's weilding twin chainswords in a backwards grip.

Good to hear. Thank you.

Yeah it used to be that we lost some things to get our unique stuff via supplements, I know we were a full codex for a bit but they went back to us being a supplement, it’s a little different from third edition in that we get the full base codex space marines as well as ours. Does mean you need both books to play though

Plus if all you look at is the app, you'd think Blood Angels only have their 18 datasheets or whatever and nothing else, since you have to go into SM specifically to check those out (AND also require a codex to see them).

Not the best set-up, on GW's side.

Sorry... i wasn't trying to be aggressive.

We can all get a little aggressive now and then, as long as we realize it and walk it back. lol. I think we're all adults here? I *think*

And after my hard reset of my 40k hobby back in October (Sold off over 24k of BA and DA), I went Black Templars. Love 'em. But anyways it wasn't too much afterwards that I realized I wanted to do one more 40k collection around 4-6k max. I saw what came out for the DA refresh. Mostlty pass. I was waiting until the Blood Angel release to make a decision.

I made my decision. Overall I don't like what they've done with Blood Angels. Its not bad, by any stretch, but it just doesn't ring my bell. I've had BA since I got into the hobby back in late 2012/into 2013.

My second collection will be the sons of Corax. Raven Guard.

On the bright side, by collecting them I will have collected/painted/ and played my favorite 40k factions: Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Crimson Fists, Black Templars, and Raven Guard. Grey Knights as runner ups, which ironically a year ago I owned a small collection of, played them, and realized I had no interest in painting the old models. Sold them.

All in all we didn't lose much and may have gained a bit.  Yes our models are reduced but GW has been going that way for a while now.  Our Baals survived  and that was great.  DC seem to have been placed in the shade but we all knew that was coming.  Getting out of the weeds though... boy oh boy we got the package we wanted.  Liberator Assault looks and should play very BA.  Combine Red Rampage with access to advance and charge or fall back and charge is something BA always wanted and never had.  Sure it's lethal or lance or both for being battle shocked but that sometimes doesn't matter to our units.  I'm very interested to see how this plays out.  I was hoping for 40-45 ppm for Sang Guard as thats a reasonable point, that could still happen though.   Overall upbeat about this and points can change so fast, it is what it is.  Liberator generally looks our go to for BA.  Angelic Host Descent of Angels with a 3" Deepstrike is going to be great for scoring with cheap jump units dropping all over the place.  Being able to return Inceptors to reserves and redeploy them is not nothing.   10th is not all about raw melee, we may have access to great scoring strats there, being able to remove and return units to the battle is very jumppacky.   So much to take apart here. DC still get a good sprinkling of specials in a squad  not quite what they were but not nothing either.
