ThePenitentOne
Its from a time before they were available in plastic, but talking to a former FW caster, he was certainly of the opinion that the "love" for Krieg rarely extended to actually buying many of the models. They were fairly popular for FW, but thats crumbs compared to the main Guard ranges, and saw them consistently downsized over the years like everything else. If FW would start charging GW prices, they probably would have sold more- it's what I'd call a self inflicted wound. Heck, I think FW should cost LESS than GW, because while many say resin allows for better detail, that's the ONLY thing resin has going for it. It requires more prep, it doesn't glue as easily and it's more fragile. We know for a fact it's cheaper to produce, which makes charging more for it a real insult. It sucks, because some FW models are really, really good looking. But whoever the genius is that decided to charge us more for what we know costs less to make really should be fired. Inquisitor_Lensoven
At this point I’m hoping for a split release of a krieg/catachans…the jungle bois deserve a refresh. They’ve been hanging on with their derp faces for far too long. Interrogator Stobz
Lolz, I have prepared my Armageddon Bunker for my response to replies. I am prepared to die alone on this.... ...quietly stoked that they are slowing down. It's been mad for years, I'd rather have better quality than quantity; and a schedule where I can save for, and actually buy the things I want. Right; off to the Bunker Norman Paperman, Tyriks, calgar101 and 12 others 7 7 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383513-nova-open-preview-august-28th29th/page/19/#findComment-6062462 Share on other sites

Right; off to the Bunker I can fully understand that, but the trade off is your rules having a shorter life span, so if you're not bothered about a codex being valid less than 12 months then it's likely better. The other down side is it'll force them to be very manic pushing out the last dozen or so books as they're now in a compressed release period. Interrogator Stobz
Are they only pausing? Or slowing everything? Do we have a confirmed 11th date they need to meet? Luckily I'm safely on my Bunker now, but damn your logic. Also, I wasn't bothered when my dex had to survive multiple Editions. I really hope they kill this uber fast everything atm. Lord_Ikka
I really hope they kill this uber fast everything atm. Probably not going to happen, at least until after 11th; GW plans things out 2-3 years in advance, so changing their current 3 year churn (one year new 40k, then the next year new AoS, then new hobby/painting line, then repeat) for something more longer-lasting would require a complete shift in their production mindset. I think it would benefit both the hobby and GW as a whole to do so, as I don't really know another hobby that has the company producing it in such a love/hate relationship with its fans. I believe that the only way to really accomplish that would be for GW to give up the idea that a large portion of their income should come from physical rules/codices, and work on making all their rules digital (whether that is some sort of subscription service or not), so that they can easily modify rules without the major hassle that is an edition change. GW policy ever since 8th edition is to chase the FOMO feeling, and that has lead to this current cycle of pumping out codices and models very fast, with some fairly controversial results such as the 9th ed Votann codex extreme power creep and subsequent pre-release changes to currently Coteaz's new model backlash in terms of laziness of modeling. Slowing down would be nice, as long as that slowing down meant a higher degree of quality, instead of what seems like an attempt to sustain pandemic-levels of interest in the hobby which is probably not going to happen because circumstances are now mostly back to normal. It's the investors who'll need convincing of this, and as they won't see any urgent need to course correct (especially if you can't guarantee them more money doing this change versus doing what they're doing now and making boat loads of cash), it'll be an uphill battle. What could help with this is if GW spent a little and conducted proper market research. Noserenda
FOMO has been going on a lot longer than 8th, the absolutely stream of DLC type rules in 7th, possibly 6th was absurd and there were plenty of limited run boxes with special exclusive rulebooks in them to boot :D To give them credit i think GW has actually been getting better with that sort of thing for a while now, launch boxes are much better than verses boxes and once you buy your rules you generally arent expected to keep buying them with most, (all?) additions to the codexes being free. Id also point out that the initial speed run of codexes in 8th was a pretty positive thing for us in theory, no army left behind with an index for any longer than they felt they could, and a big expansion to the creative teams to fuel it. Sure it didnt end well as the edition wrapped up but as someone playing a vastly obsolete codex in 5th id rather the newer philosophy.
