Well, it´s about bloody time to finish up those Recruit & Command boxes from the previous edition since the Necron Rust Bots are already standing tall and proud in the glass cabinet. What´s left? All the Primaris. Right now the ten Assault Intercessors have been built and primed:

Update:

The armour has been finished as well as all parts with the second colour (dirty white). In addition the pouches and the belts are complete too. Still to do: Eye lenses, chainsword activator buttons, brass icon left glove, laser sights and gloves. Well and last but not least decals and base/weathering which will come at the end.

Update:

Paintjob is done. Still needs base, decals and weathering.

Edit:

Who said painting marines is trivial and quick?! I am now sitting over two weeks with those cyborg killers. Ups, it´s actually a month. Damn Space Marine 2 is ruining my paint schedule. I need to sue Saber Interactive for ruining my progress.

Update:

I wasn´t satisfied with the eye lenses so additional work has been put into them. Furthermore the texture paint for the base has been applied with a wash of Umber. And last but not least the first five marines got transfers. This took quite a while to cut all transfers so that they would cover the surface more smoothly. As a result of this not the entire squad has been decorated yet. Just ten marines take a lot of time to complete!

I proudly proclaim: It has been done! I have finished them without breaching into the next month. Ten cyborg killers are ready to maim, kill and eviscerate. They shall cause such havoc to the enemies of mankind so that the holy Emperor can see their handiwork even from far away Terra! (my favourite quote from SM2 although it is not 100% correct).

This time I tried something new and put the glow effect on the exhausts of the plasma pistol barrel instead of the plasma spool which is less bright in comparison. So it vents excessive plasma after overheating and that is why the marine is now intend to chop things up as he can´t use the gun for shooting right now.

I have finished assembling and basecoating the Outriders (3 bikers) from the Command box (9th 40K). It took me two evenings to do so and it was a pain in the butt because I had to cut the connector rods otherwise the models wouldn´t fit. This also included breaking apart fully built models to remedy mistakes. In a nutshell it was the horrid Necron building experience all over again. I am still so annoyed that it took so much time to assemble these guys that pics will follow tomorrow.

And here they are:

I used a dedicated Iron Hands head from the IH_Primaris upgrade kit for the sergeant. A very silly question concerning this kit:

It comes also with shoulder pads but all the shoulders of the Intercessors and Bikers are moulded to the arms. So for which models are those shoulders for? As of now I can´t use them for any modern marines but maybe there is a use for them for the vintage marines which would be quite funny.

Edit:

Hobby plans for the rest of the year: Complete Outriders and the two characters from the boxes in November. Start working on the forty IH Tacticals from the HH core box in November. Finish those forty marines in December with the two characters from the core box. Also finish the Space Hulk battle report and upload it to the forum.

It looks like you might be able to swap out a shoulder pad on the Terminator Captain and Librarian but the other sprues have the pads moulded on

Leviathan sprues - ToP

I guess you could clip off the moulded pads to shoulder level and add the embossed pads?

I have thought about it (I've got those bikes too) but I'm trying to learn to love the decal...

Clipping the pads off to fit chapter specific ones are definitely easy to do, I did so with my Leviathan to Deathwing terminators (made significantly easier with sprue-goo).

With a little care and patience, you can even keep the fancy trim on the Captain and Librarian, I'll post pics when I get home.
