I just found this on Twitter, thanks to Zaphariel:

image.png.97e87aa668d3c87331ae2dc9df4b6df2.png

Gone: Dread Castraferrum (all sub types), Sanguinary Priest with Jumo Pack, Death Company Chaplain(!),Death Company weapon options(?), Corbulo(why?), Gabriel Seth, Tycho(At last)and old Sanguinary Guard.

For you considering...

There isn't a Death Company Chaplain right now, it got made into the evergreen "Chaplain with Jump Pack" in Codex: Space Marines if you're thinking about the dope flayed man chaplain that came out.

The loss of the Librarian Dread is the biggest unknown and hardest hitter.  Seth will be in Legends if you want to use him, same with Sanguinary Priest with JP (Though I will miss the ease of using him in the app, and he will probably see less use because of it. So stupid).

I'm not convinced this is real quite yet just because of how grainy it is, but it looks real enough and seems real enough.  Big bummer.

There's also more leaks in the "What did we lose?" thread, seemingly from the same source.
Those ones are datasheets tho.

When the DC Chaplain was remover? 9th?

I guess my main complaints are:

1. I feel like a Captain going Death Company would've been better as an Enhancement of some kind.

2. Having separate entries for Death Company with Rifles vs Chainswords is downright hilarious and proves GW is once again wrong with their point system.

3. RIP Librarian Dread. It should've been a generic option to begin with, but now nobody else will get to use it.

Is anyone REALLY going to miss Corbulo though as a unique entry? At least even Tycho was somewhat interesting.

  1. IDK, people were asking about it when the new Captian was shown off, plus it's probably gonna have a new Ability that's better for DC units.
  2. Again, different abilities is probably the reasoning. That and a full DC list can't be down to only one DC battleline option, right?
  3. We hexxed you guys. If T-Sons couldn't get a Psyker Dread, neither can you.

yes.

corbulo traditionally has had pretty good rules considering he’s a priest. The red grail has normally been good and he has often been given a variation of sanguinius’ foresight.

hes also interesting from a lore perspective as the one most actively searching for a cure.

i hope he exists in the lore still even if he’s gone from the rules for now. Personally im more upset at his loss than the librarian dread.

You're gonna get a page in the supplement saying that High Priest Corbulo has gone missing with the last recorded communication being something along the lines of:

"I have made a breakthrough, however the risks associated with it are great. I cannot give up on this now, even if it kills me. If all goes well, I will return with a cure..."

and then he'll be gone until the 11th ed Blood Angels codex when they bring him back along with the Avatar of Sanguinius' Wrath miniature (BA Primarch level mini).

Squatting the LibbyDread is an especially odd one. Since it isn't shared by any other armies you'd think they'd keep it going until the inevitable(?) Primaris replacement.

It's a one kit for 3 units design. Since DC dread updated and Furioso absorbed, to retire lib dread is an easy decision for GW.

Space Wolves players sweating.

Am I the only one that sees no point in having 2 separate entries for ground Death Company Marines? They could have been combined into one.

I very much doubt Corbulo and specially Seth are gone for good, they are prime candidates for a small BA release, but I think we won't see them until 11th.

At least Tycho can finally rest, the guy's corpse was really starting to stink.

Honestly, I have a strong feeling that BA will get a second wave of minis in 11th with new versions of the removed units and characters, similar to how everyone expects the DA to inevitably get a second wave of minis to Primarise the Ravenwing.

Its so they can have separate point values. Because GW insisted on trying to shove PL down our throats and now the Datasheet bloat is worse than ever, despite us losing all sorts of interesting options.

Doesn’t fit into the pigeon hole they’re shoving us into.

This way you can take 6 of each for a full DC army, instead of 3 of each, and having to fill the rest of the army out with none DC infantry and vehicles.

Naw, that’s not it, it’s so you can have 18 DC squads instead of just 6 DC squads total.

Wow. After looking through the leaks LAG is looking really good to me. Advance and charge /shoot strat. Fall back and charge /shot strat. Fight first enhancement, though only once per battle. Gift of foresight looks also strong. Automatic sixes are always useful.

Also I've spotted, that astorath now gives devastating wounds on the charge!

But I mourn the loss of our dreads, corbulo and jump priest.

Just gave this a watch. Looking good overall.

Jump Pack DC have excellent melee weapons. Per 5 you have two power fists and one Eviscerator.

Some great buffs for certain units. Death Company Brutalis also looks very fun. Also great stratagems.

I honestly think it's such a "Matt Ward" thing (ie from that period, not a specific dig at Ward) and ive never found it a satisfactory inclusion in the codex or fluff (especially not as a flying psychic dreadnought wielding its mighty "blood fist"!). Better it is gone, in my opinion - as it just represented the same awkward exceptionalism (+ commercial need for new models) as other unique chapter vehicle additions of the 5th/6th era - rather than good worldbuilding.
