Karhedron
OK so the stats of the new DC Dread have been leaked here: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fleaks-so-far-detachments-points-data-sheets-v0-mimfngnl73kd1.jpg%3Fwidth%3D2556%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D4ce94515fa67eec0405cc620b30b114cb4094a9e Basically it is a Brutalis Dread with most of the same stats and the DC rules on top. This means it gets the following: 6+ FNP Rerolls to Hit OC0 unless there is a Chaplain nearby It also exchanges the Brutalis's MWs on the charge rule for a rule where it can move closer to the enemy when it gets shot. However it costs a lot more at 220 points compared to 160 for the Brutalis. Granted this may change if BAs get a Day 1 points update the way DAs did but as it stands, I am not convinced the new DC Dread is worth the points. What do you think? 6+ FNP and Rerolls to hit is nice but not 60 points worth of nice. DemonGSides
I will continue to utilize Brutalis if the points don't come down. The loss of the magna grapple is the real hurt compared to it's old iteration. Blindhamster
I feel like it probably is way too expensive to utilise atm, yeah. Helias_Tancred
Right now IMO the Sanguinary Guard, and the new version of the Death Company dreadnought are very over-costed. Also BA commander did some heavy math crunching and showed the swords are the clear winners if you're deciding how to equip your new SG. But there is the power of proxy which makes rule of cool possible too? Rhavien
"must finish as close as possible" I hate that rule and I use the term very seldom. It was stupid since back in the old days where DC had to move towards the next enemy unit and it's still ugly. To much room for the enemy to dictate where you're going. Or even worse, you get out of cover just to be charged. I'm fine with "must finish closer" but this is just bad. Give him a scoutmove or - 1 dmg. Hell, just let him keep the brutalis rule. Tokugawa
Points cost printed on paper version codex would be obsoleted on day1. No need to worry about that. Wormwoods
OC0 unless there is a Chaplain nearby Finally, time for me to convert a Death Company Techmarine with a skull hat! That’s the risk of playing mad men who think they’re about to murder their traitorous brother. DC aren’t or the sweaty Uber competitive tournament types. They’re for the casuals who just want epic moments to talk about for the rest of the year/edition/their life (depending on how epic the moment is.) The 6" move, 6+ FNP and the hit rerolls would be close to value if it's around 200 points. I think the 6" move is good as it's a risk to chip wounds off. I am currently using one with a Baal predator but it may end up as just a Brutalis depending on the points gap Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383580-new-death-company-dreadnought/#findComment-6062780 Share on other sites
Paladin777
Honestly, I think the mortals on the charge are on par with the rerolls, and I'd take not needing a babysitter (chaplain) over the reactive move. it would need to come down 60-70 points for me to be remotely tempted to run a brutalis as DC, and I say this as someone who enjoys running a brutalis!
