Watching that excellent cinematic trailer for the new KillTeam edition with Temperstus Scions and T'au featured just got me thinking about BL books that feature characters in this vein.

Could be that Tempestus Scions is an entirely new thing, I know it is to me, but I imagine there must have been some novels about such strike forces, or about special agents, or for instance stuff about Arbiters or enforcers ( like in Necromunda).

Any recs?

Theres a novel about Kasrkin. I haven't read it but I read a short story by the author and thought it was pretty poor. Kasrkin were invented by Dan Abnett and feature in some of his inquisitor books. They're great books but not "about" the kasrkin. His books about the Ghosts are great they're pretty elite but more infiltrators than heavy special forces operators.Salvations Reach might have what you are looking for but there's a LOT of novels before it.

Robert Rath had a short story about elite corpse retrieval team but that was more about elite pilots. It was pretty great!

There's the Shira Calpurnia novels about arbites which I wasn't mad about. Chris Wraight has a novel about enforcers in the warhammer crime series. Im enjoying it a lot but it's more of a police procedural novel.

I suppose froma certain point of view at least half of the 40k novels are about a special strike force or group of agents coming together to pull off some impossible mission.

I have that Kasrkin book on the shelf actually, by Eduardo Albert, not read yet. Interesting that they apparently fit the bill.

Didnt know Kasrkin feature in the Eisenhorn or Ravenor books, good to know.

Bloodlines would be the Wraight novel.

I will check out Salvations Reach, read an excerpt. Thanks.

Chris Dows’ Scions of Elysia audio dramas are about (relatively) elite drop troops in the guard, so probably fit the bill.

Mike Brooks’ Choke Point is a short about Scions and is good.

I also recall reading in a story, short or full length, a scene where there is not-so friendly rivalry between regular guardsmen and their more elite counterparts, it could very well be Kasrkin by Albert (which I thought was pretty decent, for what it’s worth), but nothing more than that.

Arbites = Farrer’s Calpurnia books (Enforcer Omnibus) are the seminal works IMO. Fantastic reads.

Kasrkin are not Scions so while they are Cadian special ops they are not actually the same.

I also recall a story where regular Guardsmen and either Kasrkin or Scions had a rivalry with the latter called gloryboys as they got all the best kit. I have a feeling it was one of the Linka Minsk (sp?) novels by @JustinDHill which are excellent.

Most of the 40k Warhammer Crime novels are set in Varangantua, which is a Hive City. It doesn't feature Arbites, but the local cops are analogous to Enforcers. Most of the stories focus on the detectives of the Varangantua Enforcers, the Probators, but quite often they will be seconded to/work with the Sanctioners, who are basically armed and armored like what Necromunda Enforcers are. The books tend to be more detective noir rather than battle books, but the action is good and the setting in an interesting one.

Maybe someone can correct me but aren't the guys that accompany the Inquisitors in the Wraight Inquisition novels Tempestus Scions?

It's not specifically about them but you get some decent tidbits.

Googled it and seems you are correct:
