Magos Takatus
Okay, hi. Quick context... I have adored the 30k Mechanicum range for a long time, and with it's recent partial conversion into plastic I thought I'd buy the Mechanicum box set so that I could paint the set up and use it as my first foray into selling painted miniatures. However, I have hit a slight snag. I know nothing about the rules for the Horus Heresy, so I have no idea how to arm them. I just have the six Thallax from the box set and I am wondering how to arm them in a sensible manner. I don't really want to get into magnets with such small contact points so I humbly ask my fellow Magos which weapons to equip and how many I am allowed to field. Thanks in advance! Pearson73
Hej! I have one squad with a multi-melta, it opens up their threat range and forces the opponent to fire on them. They're durable and manouverable, so I think it's well worth it. Magos Takatus
That's a fair point. How many of the specialised weapons can I equip in a squad of six? There's one of each weapon on each frame which would imply that a squad of six could equip two multi-meltas but I didn't want to assume that it was a legal loadout. I wouldn't mind so much if I was assembling them for rule of cool but as I'd like the eventual owner to be able to use them in game I thought I'd best ask here. Do you only have one with a multi-melta due to squad limitations, point restrictions or due to another factor I am not aware of? Trokair
It is one 'special' weapon per three Thallax. Go for what you consider rule of cool, all three out of Multi-melta, Plasma and Photon Thruster are decent. Rule wise there is also the Irad cleanser and a multilaser, but those are resin only/never had a model respectively. Are you going for one squad of 6 or two squads of 3? If two squads I’d go one MM squad and one Thruster, if one big squad double plasma or pasma/thrusters. Solution Xenith Posted August 28 Solution Share Posted August 28 (edited) The instructions say you get 2 of the special weapons for the unit of 6 - that green bit at the top. All the special weapons use unique arms, so it would be possible to magnetise them at the shoulders, then assemble all 3 arms, then flex them open to get them onto the torso. Multimelta is always fun and strong, however I think I want them not wasting the standard shots so photon thruster for me I think, for elite hunting. Magos Takatus
Thank you all for your input. I think I'll go Photon Thrusters after some consideration. Now to throw myself fully into the project. The Castellax will sadly have to be painted in many, many subassemblies by the look of it but hopefully the Thallax might not be too bad. We will see. Xenith
Lots of people can have multimeltas or plasma weapons, only the Mechanicum can shoot angry light at people. Magos Takatus
Lots of people can have multimeltas or plasma weapons, only the Mechanicum can shoot angry light at people. This is very true! That's why I wish Adeptus Mechanicus in 40k was more Radium Carbine and less heavy stubber.
