So what are we expecting for the Krieg?

  • Marshal
  • Command Squad
  • Heavy Weapons Squad

Anything else? I could see Death Riders, but also them going legends and just using rough riders in a counts-as role. Obviously I'd be keen for the Malcador line to be brought into the codex, but more than likely that'll go legends too.

I'd guess they will try and avoid having multiple units that are the same, so I expect death riders and grenadiers won't be happening.

Engineers and the specialist artillery like thudd guns could be an option though along with a command squad and vehicle upgrade kit.

Will be interesting to see what they have done for Krieg.  Will it be just like Cadians with HQ units, grenadiers and crew sprues for the heavy weapons and field ordnance and that is it?  Or will it be more extensive and we will get stuff like Engineers, Centaurs, Trojans, towed artillery pieces and Death Riders?  Maybe even Macharius tanks?!

Probably a second CP.

theres currently two ork CPs.

By the same token there are two Admech/BA/DA/Sisters/CSM (etc) patrols. Yes they have rules but only one is still being sold. In the case of the orks it's the Beastsnaggas patrol.

I'm sure the current CP will remain legal til the edition cycle, but wondering if GW is going to release a replacement CP for guard as well.

Everyone has gotten a new Combat Patrol with their codex. I can't imagine IG is any different, and most likely it'll be Krieg themed, to coincide with the new releases.

…BA only have 1 CP

Whatever they do with the combat patrol I hope they include a tank. It’s not IG without a tank.

Almost guaranteed no tank

I do agree, probably no Tank.  Maybe still a Sentinel, or if there's an infantry artillery unit, I could also see that making it into the Krieg CP.

Thinking 2 DkOK squads, command unit, HW Team or Thudd and Death Riders or Engineers.

Though with the Tua getting a devilfish they might include a chimera, that would replace one of the DKoK squads though.

At least that is my educated guess.

Given there is now another squad, what are the chances of a tempestus co as well? Squad of aquillons, Scion/command squad and a taurox?

Like the Start Collecting Box they had in 8th?

As a physical thing doubtful, but as a WD CP like the two vanguard ones they released, maybe.

I'd guess 20 DKOK, a Command Unit, and then one of either Engineers + Artillery piece or New Vehicle + Artillery piece.

Would feel like it could stack up against other CP's relatively well, and is basically the same thing as current CP just KRIEG.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Chimera Replacement that is DKOK focused but can take any infantry.  That'd make me happy, I find the Chimera kinda ugly.

Also my secret hope is Krieg Ogryn.  Give me a way to completely hide the fact that they're ugly as sin.

BA will get their new CP when the Cap/SG/AI box comes out.

Which means they’ll probably lose the one they have now…

Krieg hate abhumans.

But I wouldn't put it past GW to bastardise the lore. They already added them in Darktide (And "krieg" psykers).

That said, not adding either Grenadiers, Engineers, Death Riders, or artillery, but then adding ogryns would be particularly bad.

There were ogryns on vraks on both sides:yes:

and once you translate from pdf to guard being transported to a warzone by the Departmento Muintorum, anyone's personal preferences goes out the window:laugh:

Or airlock:laugh:

Got a source? And were they "Krieg" ogryns?

Because Vraks itself just had lots of ogryns, but everything seems to be about them fighting Death Korps. And Krieg being obsessed with hating mutants.

Just to clarify, I don't have a problem with Ogryns, I just don't really like pre established factions being watered down just because "it could probably happen".

It's like saying a Mordian Iron Guard release should have jungle fighters.

Valrak actually noted recent whispers of ogyrns and ratlings. Admittedly this was prior to the krieg roadmap.

My expectations are tempered on new Krieg. A range refresh usually seems like either, 1) a New Box = existing kit + new commander (only available in said expensive box); or 2) substantial if not full release. Part of me hopes that kill team sold well enough for GW to gamble on more than a combat patrol here. If that's the case, anything goes, even a malcador.

Did GW specify codex, or subfaction codex?

Ogryns have never been part of specific guard forces, they are an auxiliary unit who can be attached to any regiment as required, in the same way that a krieg unit could also have a few squads of scions attached to them. They aren't krieg scions, they are just attached to the unit.

If I remember rightly in vraks both sides had ogryns, the imperium ones weren't from krieg, they were just attached to the units. I think they did wear gasmasks because that was the nature of the conflict so they looked like krieg

Yeah I don't care if they hail from krieg, I just think regular ogryns currently are ugly as hell (Older sculpt plus leaning on the Catachan style that I PERSONALLY dislike) and could have more cool gasmask aesthetics, akin to bulgryn.

But I also want ones with helmets.
