“I have shattered the craftworld of Lugganath with my song, little Aeldari… What do you imagine I can do to you?”

They’re finally done. After 4 years of (on-off) working on them, getting new ideas, making conversions, scrapping said conversions, searching the web for cool printable bits and not finding any, finally deciding to learn Blender (3d sculpting software) and making my own, and getting them painted over the last two months, my Noise Marine Kill Team. is. Finally. Done.

I’m really proud of them. They fought me every step of the way, but ever since reading the depictions of Noise Marines in the Fabius Bile trilogy, I wanted to make some - but I hate the 80’s guitar hero thing, and wanted to convey the utter horror, debasedness (is that a word?), and chilling creepiness of a group of 8 feet tall, genetically modified psychopaths, mutated beyond recognition, using sound as weapons, and caring ONLY for experiencing MORE - no matter the cost.

Like I said, the Kill Team really came together when I decided to do my own parts, and the Sonic weapons, heads and backpacks made them FEEL like the vision I had.

The colour scheme wasn’t easy to come up with as well, and I made 4-5 attempts, stripping them and starting again, until I decided on this. I wanted something that looked unlike any other traitor chapter, with purples, magentas and pinks, while not looking like something from My Little Pony - so I decided on a very desaturated purple/grey/ivory tone for the armour and some purple/magenta for the shoulders to warm up the colour scheme.

And yes, some of you will ask “why no glow/osl on the sonic weapons?” - believe me, I’ve tried. I love osl, and definitely wanted them to have it, but no matter what colour I tried (I even went as far as loading an image into PS, and using sliders to try every colour of the spectrum), it ended up overpowering the desaturated tones way to much, and ruining the feel - so, until I get another idea, they’ll stay like this.

For anyone wondering, they’ll be played as Nemesis Claw - it suddenly dawned on me, that almost everything about them is perfect for Emperors Children - sonic screams, mutilation of enemies, wearing skin as cloaks, etc. I’m gonna try them out at some of my painting groups KT weekend hangout this weekend, and really looking forward to it.

Any inputs, comments or questions are much appreciated. :)

These guys look nasty. The almost papery skin is pretty unnerving and you've clearly thought hard about these models. Did the sonic weapons come from the Forge World Kakophoni? I can't remember what they look like off the top of my head but since you said you made some parts yourself I'm not going to assume they are FW parts.

I like the colour scheme a lot but I am left wondering if such seekers of excess would tolerate such comparatively muted colours? I think that's always been a challenge, according to the background they would daub themselves in offensively vibrant colours but transferring that to models without looking like the owners have the sensibilities of a four year old seems to be surprisingly hard. For the record I adore the old-style Noise Marine model but I don't think you could seriously make a whole Kill Team or army with that riot of colours.  If you've stripped the models several times I'm sure you've got a lot to say on that matter.

Thanks a lot! Nope, the guns (+ heads and backpacks) are my own work - I taught myself Blender, because I couldn't find the parts I wanted online. They can be found her: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/sonic-marine-parts

I get the colour scheme thing, and it bugs me a bit - but there is no way to paint them in garish bright colours, without them looking like toys. I've experimented a lot, and found out that the best way (IMO) to get a purplish/pinkish look without taking them into Eldar territory, was using muted, desaturated colours - I wanted them to look evil, and yet have a weird/wrongish colour, so that's what I went for. Lorewise, I'm explaining it with their eyes being blacked out (the have ALL pupil, no iris), so they take in so much light an d colour, that their armour seems extremely vibrant to them. Or something. ;)

The sculpts are already amazing and they look even better painted

Totally agree on the difficulty regarding the paint scheme -it’s pretty hard not to have your minis look like they were involved in an explosion  between a paint factory and a sweets shop when you are trying for all that dazzling and garish colour look.

And I think that it works lore-wise that with their heightened perception, these Noise Marines can stare at little shifts of colour on their armour for hours on end!

Thanks a lot! :) At least, that's my explanation of why they don't look like a Sweet Shop sign. ;)

They look fantastic. The Chaplain kit-bash is really nice, and I love the finish on the cloak

Thanks - I had the chaplain laying around from an old conversion idea that didn't work, and was really pleased with how this came together. :)
