Apologies if you've seen these elsewhere, but I'm proud I've actually painted a tonne this year, so I'm sharing! :) Long story short, I'm attending Apocalypticon UK (also providing some secret models/terrain which I'll share after the event) in November and I've been cracking through my IW to get to close to 20k points. I'm also adding a bit of Dark Mech which a friend of mine is using.

 

I'll start working through the models I've done this year, then hit you with the WIPs as they go. Most of these are either 3D printed, printed and combined with GW kits, or occasionally all of that with some old school scratch building. The army I'm taking to the event is a mix of my 30k and 40k armies, but we'll be using 40k rules only. Legacy datasheets etc and lots of counts as.

Cheers - hopefully have an army shot done in November - limiting to 18K for that, but I will have stuff that worn't be finished by then taking it over 20. I got a request to provide more terrain yesterday, so have to reduce my ambitions.

 

Back in the summer we ran Apocapaintathon and raise over £400 (24 hours of straight painting) and I managed to get all this done, most are done all but bases in this shot:

 

 

I'll run through the squads tomorrow, and the rest I've done since.

These are so good. I love the plain and practical look combined with the weathering - they look really, well, Iron Warrior-y. Excellent stuff.

Cheers. I'm keeping them fairly simple because I use them more for 30k, and the group locally is pretty hot on not just reusing 40k stuff as 30k. The 40k guys I play with are less bothered about how many spikes it has (or none at all).

Such a wide array of armored vehicles and troops! I love the bridge layer and Castellan Rhinos especially, though the others are no slouches, either. Is this a mechanized army? I don't see many battle tanks or other such 'proper' tanks.

To answer the question on tanks - there are 2 of those Shiv Predators, one old Chaos Predator, a few Land Raiders and some Spartans, plus the Superheavies. I would have had a Kratos and Sicaran tank too, but it's not likely I'll get to those, nor the unofficial Lupercal tanks.

Excellent stuff - I'm really glad you are sharing.  Particularly like your venomcrawlers - it seems like it would be really hard to get the stripes to look right on them (based on the photos I've seen of it done - never tried myself) but yours look great.  Also like your hunting pack of Decimators.

 

Your emergency Lord of Skulls is super goofy, but in a very "original Epic made big" way, so it kind of works - its like something out of a late 1990s White Dwarf magazine.

Thanks, same answer for the stripes as on all the vehicles, Tamiya masking tape, then just clean up with a brush if needed.

 

Yeah he's goofy as hell, I needed something for an event, and didn't have time to build the real one that I've got, so I found a crude old school one online. The STL files were not done well so I tweaked them quite a bit, and then swapped the head and arms for something custom. The head is actually based on Dantioch's helmet-mask.

I painted it back in May but forgot to upload the photos! The Warhound is also now done and had his first outing last weekend, but needs a joint repair before November.
