Dr_Ruminahui
It's less aerodynamic than a a brick (I mean, even more so than the original design), but otherwise it's pretty nice. Tallarn Commander
I second that. That's an impressive model! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383919-warsmith-tainlys-grand-company/page/3/#findComment-6078769 Share on other sites
SirTainly
thanks guys, it suffered a bit of damage at the event - wings area bit wonky now, but I don't expect it to get a lot of use. In the meantime, have another model that was started back in 2013/4 time and got a bit of love before this event - the Doomblaster Kaiju Soze, Dr_Ruminahui, Tallarn Commander and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383919-warsmith-tainlys-grand-company/page/3/#findComment-6080742 Share on other sites
SirTainly
No updates for a while as I got quite unwell after the big event in November, and then it was Christmas. didn't have much time off over the break, and had to help put down one of our sheep on Christmas eve, so that was a bit of a downer. I realise I never shared this shot of the event - the Imperator we faced. Last week I did finally paint something though, another Vindicator Laser Destroyer, which I had started last year, but never finished. This one was quite warped after printing, so it's not great. I have also started 2 Basilisks, as I fancied them for an upcoming event, but after a test game with them, they're on the back burner again as they lacked the punch I needed. Imriy
Your army is quite spectacular, it is an inspiration almost to look at and make me complete my own IW army lol ' I most definitely am a fan of your custom-named squads and i really like the freehand banner you made. The doomblaster is also mighty sick. Iron within brother! Volgon
You have quite the collection! Lots of cool stuff here. The number of vehicles you've got would make any Iron Warrior jealous! I hope you had a special rule to allow Nicholas Wood to get off his chair and stomp the battlefield! I love all your stuff but I think my favourite is the vindicator with the big momma cannon. One of my favourite tanks made even better. SirTainly
Thanks, I've been away for a bit, work has been taking a lot of my time again. That said I have had to break out the brushes to get some Heresy stuff done for the Goonhammer event in Leicester (which was great). I'll post stuff over the next few days, but here's the first thing I did, it's actually a Spartan I started last January but never got finished before Apocalypticon. Dr_Ruminahui
Your spartan looks great - I think you got just the right level of grunge on it. Also really like the scrapes on the hazard stripes, but was thinking that if the "v" shaped ones are from bullet impacts, they should probably be pointed the other direction (so, with the open end of the v towards the back). SirTainly
Thanks, good point about the impacts, but maybe it was hit from above and behind, while the cover was opening? Airstrike maybe? Today we have my Terminators - bought second hand a repainted, and I think done before this edition when you could take a chainaxe. I've used it as another poweraxe. SirTainly
Just wanted to add, I'm off to play in a 40k team event in a few months, what's a good 2k list in 40k at the moment? I'm rubbish at list building, so the longer I have to paint up stuff to fill the gaps the better. Tallarn Commander
CSM have some decent stuff. When I go to tourneys, the top-performing CSM lists (I'm certainly not one of them) tend to include some of the following: -Various Abbie configurations--but not always. Back in 9th edition every CSM player except for me brought Abbie. -5-trooper CSM squads--great at trading for objectives -Forgefiends--although they have been debuffed a bit since their heyday -Vindicators--ditto -Small Raptor or Biker Squads--for actions and board control -Bricks of 10 termies -Nurglings-for board control -5 or 10 trooper squads of Chosen -Predator Destructors--the new hotness these days -Various support characters--especially Chaos Lords with hammer -Rhinos--Rhinos are currently gold since they combine durability, mobility, and can do actions efficiently I'd say don't worry too much about what does well. Just bring what ya think is fun and cool. : Edited Thursday at 04:27 PM by Tallarn Commander Dr_Ruminahui 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/383919-warsmith-tainlys-grand-company/page/3/#findComment-6102188 Share on other sites
Dr_Ruminahui
For support characters, you typically only see chaos lords, masters of execution and warp smiths. Personally, I quite like chaos sorcerers, but you rarely see them outside of the rare one in terminator armour. Any idea of which detachment you might use? SirTainly
thanks for the suggestions guys, just working through what's been suggested versus what I have or could build. For detachments, either VotLW or Fellhammer since I don't have enough fast units for raiders. For today's picture, here's my 30k Basilisk (1 of 2) It still needs crew but I need to hunt out the STLs I found a few years ago. Dr_Ruminahui
Raiders doesn't really need fast units - all you do is lose out on a couple of stratagems, its core detachment abilities are good for pretty much everything. That said, while potent, it may not match the feel you want for your force. Certainly, Fellhammer seems like the go to detachment for ironwarriors (and VotLW is also a good choice for getting the flavour right) though both are probably a little weaker in terms of rules than Raiders. Love your rhino-chassis basilisk (though, to be fair, it still has some chimera DNA in the hull) - that huge muzzle break really makes it appropriately imposing and menacing.
