Christmas Battleforce Predictions/Hopes

These aren't really worth it at that price, unless you're starting a DA army or otherwise don't have The Lion.

 

Bit of a shame, as the Sisters one was half tempting but the infinite backlog and the price are firmly keeping it off my Christmas list this year.

I have not purchased a Christmas box in years, looking at the necron one, buying everything individually is $339. IF the $240 is true, $100 savings. Personally, I already have all the models so no go for me.

Sisters one I'd only really want for the Rhinos as I don't need all those extra Arco-flagellants, but the extra Repentia I wouldn't mind, just a lot of money for half a box. Same when it gets to the AoS FEC one that would expand massively what I already have, but I'm struggling to get games in at all as is without adding even more unbuilt models.

Dark Angles one is a good deal but I have all that already.  The others don’t seem that great imo.  Too expensive.

Much north £100 and it is generally too expensive for me for a present for myself and would have to be a more considered purchase vs what else I could spend that money on. 

The DA one would have been the only one I would have considered outside of this as that is the faction I have collected for the longest continuously. But... I already have most of the contents of this, including the Lion so it isnt really that good for me.

 

Maybe I will get the chaplain on its own for Christmas instead

I am tempted by the Knight box, but if that price of $240 is correct I'll probably pass on it. If it's still in stock in a couple months at a FLGS I might grab it. I have plenty to paint as is, anyway.

Prices are certainly higher than expected. I think these will still sell out though. Nothing of interest to me as there is no Imperial Fist battleforce. Don't know why anyone would want anything else really given that the IF are just the best.

To be fair, them selling out is a given though I'd imagine some faster than others, like the lion box and Knights.

I don't need or want 2 of the models in the Tau one and for some reason I am still drawn to it. cheaper just to buy the two models though lol

I am not surprised. If I was starting DA or needed to expand I would have bought it in a second. Even at the price of 290 Cdn plus taxes and stuff it was still a decent buy. Knights will be next if not already.

Yeah that one was my best bet at selling out, and I'd imagine it would be the same for all flgs.

Yeah it disappeared within 2 minutes at my local pre order at midnight last night.

 

I know a couple of SM players who are getting it or were trying to, just to be able to field DA as well as their normal SM stuff; that box was jammed with legit value.

I think they may have found the balance point for price/demand. The $10 price jump + the shrinkflation of the contents seems to have found an equilibrium. 

 

The DA box is selling out fast everywhere, but everything else is hanging around. The nerf to the Knight box has really slowed down the demand.  They'll sell out eventually, but they may hang around for a few months, similar to how the AoS boxes don't leave shelves until January/February.

 

It's a shame the boxes aren't the value that they once were, but it's probably for the good. True fans get a bit of a discount, but the FOMO is reduced, so whales don't feel compelled to jump on every offering. Adding battleforces to accompany codex releases also takes some of the edge off and limits hoarding.

That happened last year. Keep an eye out, and you might see a few of them pop up.

But £150 crosses the point for me where these are a "good buy" to add to an existing army. For starting a new force, and the contents happen to be what I'm wanting, then fine - but these aren't them.

They're still available on the GW NZ site, but with our Antipodes plus plus tax they're still not appealing. 

Getting them from third parties in Oz is 30% cheaper and worth it, but they sold out of everything except Sisters too quick for me.

I like the sisters box to add to the few I have. That and the ordo hereticus box, which my local has a bunch of still, would make a pretty good sisters army with associated inquisition hangers on at a fairly low cost. I’ll have to see what I can swing though, life been pretty tough on the finances lately.

Personally got a knight box secured via my LGS. Still fairly good value as more armigers are always useful (as of the current state of knights) and big knight between Paladin or Errant isn't an issue for me, in fact I am currently needing to get Errants and Paladins to fill out my Taranis roster (as I am creating each of the known named knights that have imagery according to them).

 

The Tau one I think is just short of being great. You slap a squad of crisis suits in there and it would be a slam-dunk easy. Literally, just a squad of Crisis suits and it would feel right. So not going to argue, the boxes this year aren't hitting the highs of prior years. Though that being said...can't exactly look at these and call them unreasonable. Of the bunch, Tau and SoB look the weakest to me but that's my stance.

Still taking them MASSIVE hits of copium that knights might get something in the upcoming balance dataslate to make them fun to play again and not need 12 armigers...excuse me while I order another 12 industrial canisiters of copium.
