An Ultramarines successor chapter of the Ultima-founding. Custom "Halved" paint scheme of blue and bone.

I've had a hankering to paint some primaris recently. Lets see how far this goes.

Starting with a combat squad of Assault Intercessors. Commentary, tips, etc are all welcome. I've been painting for 22 years, but I am not egotistical enough to think I've learned everything. Happy to learn how to do things better or differently.

Eye lenses, power weapons and plasma coils will be a magenta/pink color.

I have a terminator librarian primed, and 5 infernus marines to build. I'm also interested in buying/trading for unpainted extra primaris anyone may have.

I'm a huge fan of the scheme

Thank you very much.

Question for you: Codex standard for librarians is all-blue armor. Do you think I should stay compliant with that or just continue the halved scheme?

The thing about Codex Compliant, is that it is actually incredibly diverse in what is recommended, and what the "Codex Standard" is actually right now, is just a snap-shot in time. Astartes will actively change insignias and markings campaign to campaign, even within the same campaign.

All this to say is, you do you. Typically I paint (excl Chaplains) special units in Chapter colours with their "designated" colours on their righthand shoulder pauldron.

I don't recall ever seeing a Librarian in a halves scheme, so I say go for it.

That is a gorgeous looking paint scheme, very good painting there!

I'm a 'traditional' kinda guy and would paint the Librarian in blue but I'm also very interested in see one in your scheme.

Are they descended from thr Novamarines? The Novamarines are a 2nd founding ultramarine successor with a similar paint scheme.

Not directly no. I'm sure with a territory so vast, heraldry gets used multiple times. I still haven't decided what chapter badge I want to make, hence the shoulder pads on my earlier assault intercessors are blank.

The actual chapter basis comes by the words of a popular ultramarine phrase "courage and honor." I liked this, but I wanted to add a focus on heroic deeds, inspired by myths of old. So I changed it into the Brotherhood of Heraclius (another changeup on a classic hero - Herakles) and "Courage, honor, deeds."

For the librarian, I opted to go for a classic blue with hints of the chapter colors throughout. He is still in progress but I have been making strides for the past couple of evenings. I don't really have a set time, and I paint however much I can fit in to my daily schedule.

There is plenty to do here, including washes and highlights. I'm currently stumped on how to best highlight the rune on the force weapon. I thought a bright orange might be too flat and make the blade look as if made from stone.

If anyone has any suggestions or tips you may always respond. In fact I would really appreciate it if you could.

Wherever you are I hope you have a great day. Happy gaming.

So I've been doing spring cleaning in September lately. I got tired of having clutter all around me.

In my excavations, I came across part of a squad of sisters of silence that I had for at least 5 years now. I don't know where the rest are, but these ladies will be getting painted at some point in the near future even just to sit on the shelf. I figure I'll post them here as I don't really want to open another thread that I'll only sporadically update.PXL_20240918_051035413.thumb.jpg.f8989e192e7ffcc760bbffd0a905cc03.jpg

Well, that's a good start! Hopefully your searches turn up some other goodies

I have about 4 milk crates worth of wargaming, black library, and other books to put up for sale, so plenty of goodies. Miniatures wise, nothing else for my marines thus far.

Thank you very much.

You could switch it around. eg the opposite to the normal guys.

And I've fudged it

I accidentally reversed the halting on the infernus Marines and only realized when I started the blue on the far left figure.

Maybe that's a different company or the change of sides has heraldic meaning.

Feth it. Ranged squads have this swap, melee squads have the original.

Yes marines can change loadout. doesn't mean official designation changes.
