So ya, People give their consent! I am really interested to know how I did.

I really want to know any tips for my future painting projects, so Any feed back I could get from anyone would be great. (mine were the 13th company, which used NIght lords and Iron Warriors as their secondary armour colours)

UM.... Im kinda shocked at the results, the 1st place winner was very good, bot my favorite, but still, very exceptional. The 2nd and 3rd place are just like, meh :cuss!? I didnt vote for them, I still dont understand how on earth the White Scars didnt win? I mean did you all just over look them, I forget the guys name, and I apologize, but whoever did the White Scars for the contest they are amazing, they deserved to win 1st place all the way.

Wayhey! Fifth place! :) I am stunned! Thanks to everyone who voted for me, it will be reflected in your fluff quiz results tomorrow. ^_^

Gotta say, Love those Crimson Fists, Nexus. I was wondering who painted them. ^_^ How did you do the checkerboard pattern on the legs? Can we have a close-up and how to?

Very well done to the winners, as I have said before all of the entries had something I want to steal - RT's assault marine poses, Deothar's streamer writing, the highlights on FP's marines, and that is before I even come to the IW and EC armies which fill me with envy.

Looking forward to the next comp.

Wayhey! Fifth place!

Congrats! :tu: Any chance of getting some info and more angles of your boys Aurelius? I'm particularly interested in your highlighting methods and the 'S' symbol on the landspeeder and razorback - was it freehand or homemade transfer?

Yer, try doing a company of them and you really know the meaning of pain.

Then realise you like them better another way, the ones you saw are mark 2. Mark 1 on a majority of the infantry has a bone 'S', which has now gone the way of the squat in my fluff.

I will have to get some better shots of the squad and post them in the next few days.

they were all very cool but I have one question for Frontier Pediatry how the hell did you get those helmets for your marines??? they look like Grey Knight ones  but very cool btw

I would say they are filed beaky helmets, am I right?

They are.

Those symbols are absolutely incredible Rex, I'd love to see your army in real life. Nothing like a well done DIY chapter .

Okay; Kurgan just informed me of the amount of brothers that graced me with their votes.

Let me put it this way; might we ever get together, we still would need a voluteer to play poker... :tu:

Still; thanks to the both of you :P

Don't think this has phased me though; I knew it was coming, considering my dread wasn't even finished and I used an old assault squad I did up years ago (be it with some recent improvements). Had my entire force been to the standard of my Chaplain and Tactical Sergeant, I might have stood a chance. Maybe... :P

As it was, I just didn't have the time to finish my force to the standard I was aiming for and I think there's a lot of people here who were in the same predicament. I just was stubborn enough to pull an allnighter, call in sick and (semi) finish my entry. I can't blame anyone for not going that far, as I realised when I was finished, that I hadn't had any fun painting in the last week before the ending of the contest. The pressure to finish had built up to such an extent that it had become a mission, rather than a passtime.

Not to imply I didn't enjoy competing, just that I fully understand that there's not as many entries as might have been intended. So, perhaps next time, we go for a squad at most?

The intention of the contest however, was to (finally) finish a gameworthy force, and that at least has been a succes in my instance. Not to mention the fact that my painting skills have drastically improved as well, over the last couple of months (speed is still an issue though ;) ). No doubt, there's loads of people who have come (very) close to reaching that goal too, so as far as I'm concerned, the concept has been a succes, albeit a tough one...

And for those two interested; I will post more pics of my sarge and chappie later this week, as well as of new the tactical squad, which wasn't too shabby either, if you ask me...

I chose a font I liked and printed the texts out in full on paper (2 cm tall), then I used that as an example to freehand the texts on the mini. I used a mix of Scorched Brown and Chaos Black, watered down way beyond the consistency of milk. I had to layer the letters as well, because the first (rather transparent) layer was just the basic shape, then I did the beefing out of the apropriate parts of the letters, then the decorative thin lines and finally the overall finish, i.e. correcting the shapes.

Once you get the hang of it, it's really not that hard... Once I get the pics of my chappie up, check out his shoulderpad; that D and A, are in white and bonewhite on Black/DA Green and that required some really intensive layering (Not to mention the complexity of the letters... )

Cheers for noticing though :tu:

I'd like to start out by saying congrats to all the entrants, and especially for the winners. This contest has helped me assemble more in 2 months than what I've accomplished in 3 years! Second I was wondering if I could get some help as to what was good or bad and things I could do to make it better (except of course practice!) Next up on my list is two more speeders and two tanks not to mentions 5 more assault marines. Again, great work everybody!

Is anyone surprised to NOT see an entry from golly?

As far as I'm concerned, the only people who would have ANY right to complain are those who entered. And if you'll notice... they're not complaining.

Where's your entry, golly? Did you vote for your favorites? That's how you can voice your opinion as to who's-entry-is-better-than-who's. By participating and voting.

But to come on here just to slam on the folks who worked countless hours to actually complete their entry, and had the courage to compete? You are a shameful person. Your post embarrasses yourself, and is a disgrace to this board. No one here would be unhappy to see you disappear.

Congratulations... yes, to the winners, but I want to congratulate ALL of the Frater who took the time to design lists, create some fiction, and get some models painted (or at least photographed, if they were old ones!). Well done, indeed. I hope to see at least TWICE as many in the next contest!
