Battle Honours

So legion builder will be adding battle honours in a future update.

 

If you aren't aware, book 3 has a section with detachment upgrades, costed by model called battle honours. Basically one detachment per formation can be like a veteran detachment and you can purchase 1 of 3 buffs/abilities from a list per unit type. We will be trying them in today's game. Both our lists came in a few points under the limit so we figured we'd try and spend the leffover points on battle honours. My opponent's lancer adds 1 inch to its speed stat. Both my tank commanders have the master of defense battle honour, their point defense weapons re-roll 1's to hit.

 

What I like about the battle honours is, they're well thought it in that they are limited to just one detachment per formation, so difficult to spam, and although the point costs are a bit all over the place, they're applied well in that they're generally by model or weapon. In my case, it's costing me a point per weapon with point defense. I think the only one that stands out as needing a faq is favoured by the mechanicum, its basically blessed auto simulacra with a different name and that's the problem, raw it can stack with the aforementioned rule, very good for knights.

 

Has anyone conceived of any cool conversions? Is anyone else trying them in normal games outside of campaigns?

So we tried out the battle honours last game, legion builder should have them in the next update but for now I just photoshopped them in. 

 

Skimaskmohawk took a battle honour on his cerastus lancer that added 1 inch to its movement, hard to parse out exactly if it made a huge difference or not. In my case I think I only managed to re-roll a few 1's, but it was still useful. If anything they'll be a good excuse to make fun conversions.
