Nova-V
Thanks to everyone here reporting and screen shoting, I couldn't watch the stream but I could take quick checks on here. Id almost forgot that there were reveals today as their didn't seem to be the usual countdown timer on the new Warhammer Community site. Joe
@Indy Techwisp To be fair, the teaser was just the legion heraldry followed by "Coming 2025." Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384048-warhammer-day-2024/page/8/#findComment-6068814 Share on other sites
Ayatollah_of_Rock_n_Rolla
So. None of this is up on Warhammer Community yet and apparently I missed the EC teaser at the end of the stream which I now can't go back and look at? Very annoying. It was just EC Legion symbol, you didn't miss anything really. Matcap86
Hmm, they referred to an article on the war-com website with more details and pictures. But as is tradition, they managed to break it. INKS
tried to tell people there wouldn't be much 40k to see. Christmas boxes look a little sparse don't they? maybe it's me but last year and the year before seemed like you got more in the box. Knights continue to tempt me. 1 big knight and 4 armigers. what was the old box? feel like it was 2 big knights but i could be wrong. Also, 4 boxes, feel like there were more last year? or maybe it was the year before and I am confusing things. KT: looks ok. more imperial forces... we more or less knew what it was going to be. It's an ok looking set. ZeroWolf 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384048-warhammer-day-2024/page/8/#findComment-6068818 Share on other sites

ZeroWolf
Can't say I did too badly with guesses on what was to be revealed (and know to wait for Valrak's Goldblum gif about the KillTeam reveal). Only thing I really got wrong was the EC brief tease. Oh and Dark Mech for LI (but got the book reveal right) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/384048-warhammer-day-2024/page/8/#findComment-6068823 Share on other sites
Torvak Kyre
Well I feel in the process of development the original black book lore plan was calved into (at least two) books. LI carries on the excellent content of AT, which I feel are the true successors of the black books in presenting fictional history writing (rather than the poor "protagonist character psychodrama" of Cthonia, Beta-Garmon and Martian Civil War). I reread Crusade recently and it has brief brilliant dark mech representation (which again the book was originally going to have, iirc). The description of the dark titan the Lion and the 12 excindio fight rather recalls this design. I’ve never really had much interest in Adeptus Titanicus or Legiones Imperialis as games so haven’t really paid much attention to their books. Do you think they’re worth getting purely for their lore content? INKS
The terrain is cool, but it's so overpriced. I wish we could just buy the teams. But they make you wait for that. Not into orks. never really was. not sure why, but the models look good. nice and thick and big. Almost tempted honestly, and again this is coming from someone who has zero interest in Orks. Regardless of my dislike of more Imperial forces for KT (I mean there are so many they made a codex for them in 40k), the Hobbit with guns look cute. In the end I probably won't get either faction but they are tempting looking. Regarding the terrain. It looks good. But it's overpriced. I am never going to paint it or build it and I wish they would sell it without all that as an option. It really jacks up the price of the boxes. I know people love the terrain, it's good looking terrain, it really is. I guess there isn't much more that can be done with Knights in terms of a discount box that also makes a small viable army. Sisters box is pretty good as a thematic basis for the army. Only thing I'm surprised about is the use of the same priest as the hereticus box they usually try to make these boxes mesh some what so I'd have thought it would have the flame chain sword one. Do you think they’re worth getting purely for their lore content? Not OP but I've been getting the regular heresy ones and the Imperialis (and previously the titanicus ones), and the 8mm ones are way more similar to the old black books in content and writing style. They focus more on factions, locations and events compared to the regular heresy ones that are more "40k-like" nowadays. I vastly prefer the 8mm ones as the regular heresy books now have turned into character focussed "and then the primarch walked up, and then the primarch made a frowny face, and he took his giant sword and smacked the enemy really hard" stories. "Worth it" is subjective though. Overal quality of the writing is a bit lower and there's less pages of it compared to the black books. If the Black Books are an 8-9 on the lore front, I'd give these a 6.5-7. Xanthous
Correct me if I'm wrong, but neither the Ratlings nor the Tankbustas seem to be based on an upgrade sprue for an existing kit. Could indicate a shift in design philosophy going into the new KT edition, if true. I believe you are correct, although both are essentially a reimagining of existing units as opposed to something "new" - I wonder perhaps if a lot of the low hanging upgrade options have been used now. It would still be nice to see some underrepresented factions get something though - KT feels like a good place to slot in a cult legion unit to expand their ranges, which so far hasn't happened.
